Last night when I was trying to put my back wheel back on the brake rotor was giving me some issues so I took it off to get the back wheel on but after I got the wheel on I cant figure how to get the caliper back on is there a trick to it? I took off just the caliper do I need to take the bracket off to get it back on or can I leave the bracket on to get the caliper back on? | ||

Donald, I've never had to remove the caliper the pull the rear wheel. The swing arm stand i use raises the rear enough that once the axle is out the wheel will drop right out, then to reinstall just raise the wheel up to align the axle, making sure the rotor slips into the caliper. Maybe pull the wheel back off and install the caliper with the wheel off? Also, are the pads pushed out giving you trouble? james | ||

I always remove the caliper...just easier..! It should just drop right in place... You have to make sure the pads are far enough apart to "easily" slide over the rotor. Then, with your fingers, hold the pads against the pistons, and just drop the caliper over the rotor and install the two fasteners. Should be a 45 second job. And maybe a full 90 seconds to drop in place AND install and tighten the two screws. Mike | ||

well it was late at night in the dark and I was aggrivated with my bike and just wanted the wheel back on and the pads kept getting in my way. the problem I was running into was trying get the caliper back on to the bracket so I am guessing I should take the bracket off of the bike and put the caliper back on the bracket then put then install the bracket and caliper at the same time on to the bike. |
