Installed my Barkers, I didn't know it was such an appropriate name. Wow, what a bark it gives the bike. Yowza. Short test ride, it's freezing, plus I have the stock ECM in it. Interesting, only rode about a 5 mile circle, then noticed the service light was on when I got home. But I assume when Erik Buell Racing ships my re-tuned ECM back it'll all be optimal for a real test ride. Oh did I mention it was loud, like you can feel it in you intestines loud. Actually it seems loudest at idle, in terms of being louder than stock. I went with the Barkers due to the shootout, seemed one of the quietest, one of the strongest , and the cheapest and looks great. I got the black and it looks very nice, especially with the fairing. I have the QC which I will slip in, but after I play a little & "make noise, not friends". BTW, I cannot believe the weight of the stock muffler, wow. The exhaust didn't come with any instructions, which I thought was weird, it was no problem, as I've been a garage DIY biker for 30 yrs, but I do need to look at how the QC will slip in ... eventually. C'mon Erik Buell Racing, get me that ECM, bark bark bark. Note: when I emailed Erik Buell Racing on a tune for the Barkers, they got back to me in an hour (wow), retune for $25 and they recommended it. Love those guys! And big thnx to American Sportbike, another easy fast purchase, and the shootout info was amazing. |

Undo the allen head bolts on the turnout, pop it off, slide in the QC, pop the turnout back on, do up the bolts... 5 mins top.. (Message edited by Jules on November 07, 2010) |

I'll also post a couple pics soon. After the test ride I took the fairing off again, etc. While I wait for the retuned ECM to come I'm installing the American Sport Bike thermal shield, putting on like 5 coats of wax on the fairing while it's off, and some little things. Should've snapped a pic before taking it apart again. |

It's a stock seat that has been reprofiled and fitted with memory foam...oh and some tacky flames sewn in for good measure LOL |

Dman......I too was surprised with the bark of the new Barker with the stock ecm. I ran mine for about a week like that, while waiting on Erik Buell Racing's ecm, and noticed it mellowed out slightly after I ran it for a while. Ecm learning? After installing the race ecm it smoothed out. The loud sharp popping was all but eliminated and the exhaust note smoothed out to a nice deep "rumble". Sounds great now. Your going to love the new combo. |

Thanks, for the extra info BigBully, I can't wait, my ECM is due tomorrow from UPS, I'll be riding the rest of the week no matter how cold, to test it out. I may be happy without the QC in it, but I'll test it both ways ... I wont't be asking the neighbors for their opinions though. Funny thing, I got my (16 yr old) son down to hear it just idling & reving it in the driveway, he's been riding with me in the dirt for 10 yrs. He said, "wow, it's wicked, I can feel it vibrating my balls from over here". I thought, yep, positive paternity test there, he's my boy. |

I agree about the Erik Buell Racing ECM makinf the Barker seem quieter too, well not a lot quieter but noticably less harsh, |

Yea blue was a thought but I opted for the easy way. Kc 10 - you've done to your bike EXACTLY what I ahve thought about & would love to do, that looks awesome. I really think the black & blue theme is so stylin and hot. I'm still thinking about the windscreen in blue like that. And the wheels ... just wow. |
