So in August the dealer said there was a front brake fix/update & they ordered the parts. It's now Nov. Eh hem.

So can someone tell me what this is, if I should care when it comes, or if it comes this year or not. If the dealer ordered something that doesn't exist, blah blah.
:-)

It's a new and improved clamp that reroutes the front brake line... slightly. With a clear self adhesive applique that prevents cable rub on the fork tube.

It's nothing to get silly over, really.

No new parts save the clamp and a applique.

And the routing change. It takes the brake line from between the forks where it could rub on the tire, to the outside of the fork and away from the tire.

It was an open recall on the bike that took me down back in '08. I still wonder....

Get it done. If you shoot me a part number, I can check availability for you.

The old routing would cause the brake hose to rub and wear through the coating and wear on your fork leg.

When I got mine done, the brake line was fine but it had worn a groove in the aluminum fork leg.
Got a new fork leg out of that recall. : )

My 09 CR had that done before I turned the key for the first time. It shipped the wrong way (I know, I uncrated it) but the recall was done when they did the PDI.

For me, the right answer has always been the longer front brake line. It makes front wheel swaps so... much.... easier. And, it eliminates the rub problem because it bows out away from the fork.

original routing of brake line

recall route

Save yourself a trip to the dealer and just take the front wheel off and pass the caliper through the forks, thats all they did to mine, and then stuck a clear sticker on which came off as soon as i washed the forks down.

You don't even need to take the whole wheel off if you don't want to. I removed my front rotor, and front fender and was able to slip the caliper through the opening.

Well, ok, but pulling the wheel is way easier than pulling the rotor!

Cool, so it's been a few months waiting for a clear sticker. LoL ... kind of. Glad it's nothing important. Shame I didn't konw it last time I had the bike a part, but I'll reroute this weekend. Thnx guys.

I did not realize it might rub into the aluminum fork slider. What difference does it make in that regard if it is on the inside or outside of the forks? I understand about the wheel rubbing.

Bob - I did it that way too.

Yeah, I voted yesterday.
Didn't do any good, most of the incumbent criminals are still in office....
That and we got a douchebag for Governor. : (

Pm - just make sure the line sits naturally away from the fork leg and you'll be fine.
Vibration and road grit between the line and leg wore into the aluminum.
Zero damage to the line.

PM,Dman, HD uses a heavy clear protective sheet on the rear fenders, much larger then you need but it does come in handy for quite a few things.
Zack, I thought the election for gov was still up in the air?
I haven't seen a winner in an election in quite a few years except for Gov Christie (Go Chris give them hell!!) but i still feels good to voice my choice.
