We, as a group, want more pictures, completed or not, of your now-running M2. You've been buying up all the parts that we've wanted long enough that we want to see what they look like on this mega-cycle . |

I'll give him a chance to throw his own pictures up .. But if he waits too long I have pictures of it completed (he has put off a final update hasn't he ?) ... It was put back together in my garage and I had to send him updates so I have plenty of shots .. He only had minor things to finish up when he got home with it (foot controls, the right headlight and I think there was one or two other things but I don't remember what they were) |

LOL. Guys, I haven't had a chance to go out and get photos of her (I mean good, taken with my DSLR camera photos). It's not fully done, still awaiting foot controls (waiting on the peg relocators to show up), install correct pegs, pulley cover (hopefully I finally begged long enough to get the one I wanted), pulley skin, I cannot find the right headlight (I've gotten an X1 an S1 headlight and they don't fit, I need some S1 headlight/flyscreen mounts and a 97/98 M2 headlight), and need to get the PM 4-pot rear brake installed. Between flying and working, I haven't rode her much. Been spending time in the sky! I did, however, get a chance to ride a stock M2 (Pyrobee's), and he rode my beefed up M2. I will say that I cannot believe the ergonomics on a stock M2 feel THAT much different! I had my Corbin Gunfighter and Lady with the dished out rider seat, and Crossroads 7 degree down bars (much better position in my opinion). I felt like I was sitting up straight on that stock M2! I awaited this update when I had some time between flying and working because I wanted to ride a stock M2 since it's been over two years since I rode mine and forgot what she felt like! So...I will say, the power is DEFINITELY significantly different. There is more power available everywhere! My M2LXB from a rolling run will stand the front up with just flicking the throttle open wide. I can now even keep it up while shifting into 2nd and even pops up off the ground while shifting into 3rd. I haven't played aggressively with the wheelies as I have no rear brake (it's lost it's pressure). This thing shifts like a DREAM! I asked Steve Mackay to polish the shifter drum and it's like butter. The suspension is not set up completely for me yet (I need to call Traxxion and double check their settings on my Penske as it rubs my aluminum oil tank). I also need to setup the X1 Showa forks I have converted to. BUT, with this setup this bike handles well. I would like to say, it handles MUCH MUCH MUCH better than the stock M2 setup. I installed Braking Wave Rotors front and rear and don't recall off hand the pads I'm running, but it stops well. I don't think that it's as grippy as stock, but not by much. I can't comment fully on this as I have no rear and the setup will change with the PM 4-pot caliper installation. My favorite seat is the M2 Corbin Gunfighter & Lady because its rider seat is dished out and scoots you back much farther than stock, and lays me down nicely over the tank in combination with the low bars I run. I have been thinking of getting some straight Renthal bars, but not sure yet. Specs of my M2: Stock pieces: Stock frame rand New PM Wheels Stock Carburetor (From another bike which was TUNED precisely to my current engine setup with tons of dyno time) Stock Polished Intake Stock Engine cases Stock Crank Stock (brand new) Transmission with polished shift drum (Thanks Steve!) Stock paint/body work Stock Pushrods/bases Stock Polished Swingarm mounting block from a 2000 M2 (Did you know that the design was different for a 2002?) Stock Polished Swingarm from a 2000 M2 Stock gauges/dash (need to find the mounting cups for the aluminum dash yet) Stock '00-'01 M2 Main Wiring Harness, Y0200.LA (Had to retrofit because 2002 M2 had a dual plug ignition module, and needed the 8-pin connector) Aftermarket: Engine/Drivetrain: XB9 Pistons XB Heads XB Rockerboxes "E" Grind Cams (same profile as the XB cams, only made for tuber motor) Revolution Performance Hydro-Rev™ Hydraulic Lifters Buell Pro Series Race Air Cleaner Buell Pro Series Race Header Buell Pro Series Race Muffler HD Screamin' Eagle Selectable Ignition Module NRHS Billet Motor Mount for Tubers with XB Heads Metmachex Aluminum Oil Tank XB Drive Belt Performance Machine Rear Pulley To be installed: Pulley Cover (Hoping this Rizoma pulley cover deal works out, THANKS SEAN!) Pulley Skin (Aluminum, from American Sport Bike) Suspension: Showa USD Forks from an X1 with polished triples. Penske 8300 Series Shock Brakes: Braking Front Wave Rotor Braking Rear Wave Rotor To be installed: Performance Machine 4-piston Rear Caliper Tires: Pirelli Diablo Supersport Bodywork (none installed): Buell CF Tire Hugger Buell CF Pulley Cover Buell CF Chin Fairing Buell CF Lower Belt Guard American Sport Bike CF M2 Heat Shield American Sport Bike CF S2 Front Fender (need mounting hardware) Lighting: 35W 6000K HID Hi/Lo Headlight 35W from DDM Tuning Integrated LED Taillight with Clear Lens Banke M2 License Plate/Fender Eliminator Controls: Buell Pro Series Aluminum Pegs (Still need to switch one out) CRG Shorty Silver Adjustable Levers Buell Traction Grips Bar-End Mirrors To be installed: Banke Peg Relocators Banke Peg Relocator Shifer and Brake Lever Also have Banke Rearset kit for M2 which I may install someday Seats: Stock M2 Low Stock M2 Corbin Gunfighter Corbin Gunfighter and Lady with Orange Piping (Carbon Fiber Weave) with matching Ovalbac Backrest Corbin Gunfighter and Lady with Orange Piping (Pigskin style leather) with matching Backrest Buell Select M2 Seat with Orange Piping Stock Early M2 seat (With early tail section) Early M2 Corbin Gunfighter and Lady This build ended up taking TWO YEARS to the day to complete. I have much appreciation to Brian (Tattodnscrewd) and Jason (Uwgrizzly) who built my bike after I lost all motivation. This bike arrived to them in boxes, transported by my car (who'd have thought a 1995 Toyota Camry could haul a motorcycle INSIDE without a trailer?). The engine rode shotgun and wore its seatbelt for the journey from South Bend, IN to Milwaukee, WI. The frame rode in the backseat and luckily wasn't a backseat driver! All of the other odds and ends were tucked in ever crevice I could find and the trunk was full. This is how the car looked loaded up: So, after a awhile Brian and Jason talked me into the current motor configuration and away from a big bore kit I had purchased to match the XB heads I bought. I'd make periodic trips up to Milwaukee to "help" and deliver other parts that I'd forgotten to bring up before. Finally, one day I got a text message with this photo: HOLY SHIT! A motor! More pics a little while later: Can anyone notice a booboo in this photo??? Yes, it was forgotten even after both told one another NOT TO FORGET IT! Finally, something that resembles a bike!: Body applied for a photo op: Now after this point is was mind numbing tedious little things (mainly a poor fitment issue with the Metmachex oil tank), that were time consuming and didn't make much different cosmetically to the bike... But, with a bloody finger or two and a few cartons of cigs and several cases of Mountain Dew later, finally completed: Stock M2 on the right, my M2LXB on the left (notice the lean on the stand since the kickstand is an inch shorter than a stock M2): Now, the day I came to get her I rented a Cargo Van since I couldn't score a truck/trailer. This worked out better because I ended up getting DUMPED on by Mother Nature with gobs of rain on the return trip! Loaded up and ready to go (18 Sept 2010): On the road: Ordered a Carbon Fiber S2 Front fender from Al to install (but I don't have the damn hardware): After hitting a HUGE bump, I noticed a problem, my tire rubbing my oil tank! So, I tighted up the rear suspension a bit and raised it a half of a turn and hopefully solved it: And a photo from the first time ever getting to partake in the New Riding Game over in the QuickBoard: Again, much thanks to some AWESOME friends who took my bike and resurrected it to the beautiful machine she is today! I cannot thank you enough guys! It would have never gotten done without you! (Message edited by brinnutz on October 28, 2010) |

I think they (Tat and Uw) deserve the thanks of all of us who've read and waited for the complete project! I know I've been looking forward to seeing this bike finally assembled. Looks beautiful, surprisingly stock and yet so much cleaner and polished than the stock bike. From the pics fit and finish is very nice! Those triples clean up well don't they? Those cylinders sure fill in the spaces more than the stock cyls, really looks great. Phelan, thanks for poking at Wilson to put these up! |

Brian (Tat) was bugging me more than Ross. The public callout vice the text messages to post an update was a motivator...LOL I love the way she turned out...Just a few more final touches to be perfect! I just wish I could get the CF hugger to fit without bashing against the oil tank. |

Ok Brinnutz I noticed your statement about the wiring harness . My 2000 uses the 1 connector ECM (Y0200.LA)harness and both the 2001 M2's I have use the 2 conn. ECM (Y0200.01A3)harness. Which my factory Buell parts book (99572-01Y) also confirms the change as 2000 to 2001 models. So it would seem a few 2001 models were 1 conn. bikes. Also I really want a 2001 or 2002 M2L in the same color combination as yours. I should soon have the funds to start looking. Thank you for sharing the pics also. Well James, I have a dual plug Buell Race Ignition for M2's that I can sell. Interested? I have no use for it whatsoever. Thanks Greg! Frank, it was more of a Jason and Brian build. Those two fought and argued like an old married couple. I actually didn't do anything to be honest. They built it, and deserve the credit. I just supplied all the parts! But it's pretty much what I had envisioned. Thanks Alex! I really want to get a 2002 S3T in this color combo. There's one on eBay right now in great shape, just not the right time at the moment. |

Wilson would the CF hugger hit with a stock oil tank? I was thinking about getting one myself. For a while I was thinking about getting the polished oil tank but this winter I am in the process on de-blinging the S3. The only thing shiny still on the bike is the XL6 cover and the Banke foot controls. I'll have to post a picture of the orange wheels. Looks pretty good with the the blue body work. |

Wilson, If you make plans to come up to Milwaukee next summer with the bike let me know and I will see about meeting up with you. (I live about 100 miles north) Could do some fun photos and stuff.

Mohsen, Thanks! Jason, its a CF replica of the stock hugger so it shouldn't. I think I have an suspension issue which is causing this. May have been sprung for the wrong weight, not sure. Andy, By the time the slotted PM's on ebay went on sale I was out of bike funds and the bike was near done so I didn't bother. The pattern matches. The only difference is the slot. Anyways, I like the solid PM's and they are "period correct" as Brian would say, LOL. Ken, probably head up there on the bike next spring/summer (I assume another Homecoming is in order?). I'll try to give you a heads up! |

"..that is the best color combo..." I couldn't agree more except I'd prefer orange wheels instead of the PMs. Which means that rear pulley NEEDS to go to some one (like me) who has the matching PM wheels...!!! |

From the photos the new oil tank is not concave like the stocker and extends into the "wheel well" a bit more as well. Maybe you could tear it apart and find a metal worker who could reshape it for you over the winter... (...if your metal worker happens to be a machinist they could also slot those PM's for you) |

On my S1 there was not room to leave the hugger on with the aluminium oil tank because of it not being concave. Looks good! |

Thanks Frog-man! For those wondering about the rearsets : http://twinmotorcycles.nl/webshop/artikel.asp?guid =YXHFSC&aid=211&cid=127&s=&a= Shifting with this setup is slick. Makes my already smooth shifting even easier and is worlds better than that updated stock shift setup. Now, time to go back and loc-tite all those bolts. |
