so yesterday on the way to work ic goes out system voltage message on ic tach needle non op. same thing on way home but at idle battery was falling at a stator failure rate but once i started rolling again it would jump up to normal then i realize my headlight must be out cause everyone is pulling out in front of me. volts are at 15 and down to 12 at stops turn on high beem , it works. got home and did a search...... people here say voltage regulator matches my symptoms, cool whats not cool is my warranty expired 7 days ago. and my question is other than headlight bulb what else was damaged by the vr failure? i would like to take it to dealer but am worried about it not being covered and them charging me labor should i call buell cs before taking it in? My cr has 34845 miles and no i dont lug the motor. I have had four stator failures and one Vr already. one stator after update. and a fuel pump replacement six thousand miles later two weeks ago? could the stator have fried too. is there a fuse to check first or loose ground? what would you do? |

H-D over here has been pretty good about bikes just out of warranty. It would be worth calling the dealer and asking if it could be covered by warranty. |

I lost my headlight (twice) when the VR failed. Saw 16 volts for a moment, just before the warning message came on. No issues after replacing the VR (under warranty) and the second headlight. |

I am going through a similar problem. Start and idle the bike just fine, let it warm up, good, get on light twist on the throttle and the ic reads "system voltage". Lose all lights and blinkers fans come on full blast. Hit kill switch, start again, everything is fine, ride for 30 seconds and ic out again. Shut down turn off ride for a minute ic goes out. For the fourth time turn off turn on and it rides like it was new. I have to do this every time I stop the bike for an extended period of time i.e overnight. I am assuming voltage regulator also. My h-d dealer had it for a WEEK couldnt find anything wrong?? |

At least yours starts back up! Rode mine for 20 minutes at speeds over 45mph and it wouldn't start again. I'm afraid to stop for gas! |

I'm gonna try a FH008EE on mine. I think its actually rated for fewer amps/watts but I got one free. The dealer is putting new stator and factory r/r on now. When I get it back I'll swap to this new one. Murf |
