Jake, I don't have any experience with the Scorpion products, but several years ago I put a Talon on my 04 ZX10R and it is still working great. I had to email customer support with a few questions (during the install) and got really fast and helpful replies. http://www.talonalarms.com/ I am not affiliated in ANY way to Talon. Just a happy customer. |

The issues is the apartment complex. Lots of bikes are stolen from those. you need a locked garage. Period. Think storage unit if nothing else. |

I have a scorpion alarm on my 1125r and it has worked amazingly. very easy install, very easy to set up, and it has excellent range with the two way transmitter. Mine also has the perimeter sensor that really does work. I don't recall which model I have but the two you're looking at would be the same or better. Good luck. beugs |

I posted about this earlier in the month under a Theft prevention heading. My 1125CR was stolen the beginning of September. I recently tracked down and Purchased another new one and have installed the Scorpio systems I-1100 (RLink) in it www.rlink.com This system works very well so far and beyond just being an alarm it uses's a cellular service to provide tracking by both gps and cellular triangulation so that if the bike is stolen you can track where it is even if it's in a building or enclosed vehicle. Their system is completely modular and easy to install. Read the directions thoroughly before the installation though as they are not step by step. I paid the 9.95 monthly fee for mine to take advantage of all the tracking available. To those that say that a bike must be kept in a garage please keep in mind that Theft does not only occur at a home but can happen in a parking lot that you drive too. Or maybe you didn't buy your bike to ride it and you only keep it as a garage ornament. |

Beugs- which scorpio system do you have? and i dont have much experience with wiring, but i hate paying people to do something that i can do. How long did it take to instal? and where did you mount the box? Ewalk- how has the i1100 working for you? and i couldnt agree more with you!! This is the system i want to get, also have any of you had experience with biohazard cycles, they are the cheapest but idk how reiable they are. http://www.biohazardcycles.com/servlet/the-3126/SC ORPIO-SR-dsh-I900-ALARM-SRI900/Detail THANK YOU ALL!! Ewalk- have you had any problems with that system draining your battery? Have you used the alert text and see how long it took to relay the info to your phone? I'm interested in the features it offers |

Mine is an older system, SRi-500, but I got it at closeout. It still works perfectly well so I didn't care if it's a discontinued model. Installation was very easy, take off the tail section plastic and hook up some wires to the turn signal wires and battery terminals and you're done. I mounted the unit to the bottom of the battery with heavy duty velcro, and the perimeter sensor to the side of the battery (facing up, since the battery is on it's side already, but you knew that) After reading about the system ewalk has I think that would be the way to go, depending on where you live too. I live in south dakota so I figure my two way scorpio is just fine for here. When I'm on a trip I never leave the bike anyway and I'm almost always carrying, depending on the state I'm in. South dakota lets ccw permit holders carry concealed on bikes. Good luck with your decision, I never really felt comfortable till I got an alarm on my bike. beugs |

no problem as yet with the system draining the battery, it will actually send an alert when the battery gets low to warn you. as far as the text goes it would get to you as fast as another person texting your phone. mine seems to get there within 30-45 seconds of the alarm being triggered. I'm on the Verizon network and have a Motorola Droid if that helps. The alarm uses the T-mobile network for its communication and unlike Lojack does not rely on a police unit being in your area and being equipped with their receiver to find your Bike it will work anyplace that you can get a T-mobile signal. Jake don't know about the other systems your looking at but the Scorpio systems all seem to be the same for install. There will be a wire to connect to the positive battery terminal and four wires to connect two to the license plate light and one to each of the rear turn signals. These wires connect with T-taps and spades. I was not that familiar with what a T-tap was until I received the kit. They are very easy to use they simply clip over the wire you need to connect to and then you plug the spade into it. I installed the whole alarm in about an hour and a half including actually setting it up online. |

Thereconscout, Just wanted to let you know the question you asked about being a drain on the system. Due to weather conditions in the North Western Ohio area the bike sat for about three days here recently but started right up without even a hick up today. Getting it into storage today as snow is coming this friday. Should have no problem in storage as it will have a battery tender through the winter. eric |

eric, thank you, do you ever have problems with the perimeter sensors in any way? like going off on their own/ or more often than it should? Thank you Jake |

The system is modular so I didn't install the perimeter sensor my hope was that if i didn't have the alarm that was always going off that it would actually attract some attention when it does. One of the reviews I found on another board for the system stated that it took the owner a while to fine tune the perimeter sensor just right but it is possible to set it up for our preference. something I did learn after the install is that the Rfid antenna is actually directional so the side opposite the plug is the front and should be pointed to the left side of the bike or at least angled that way to get the most range from the phob. |

eric- good point, i got an sr-i900 for 315 shipped and it comes with the sensors and ignition cutoff...so i may just not install the perimeters, just for that reason and they are too sensitive. THANK YOU! Jake |
