I finally picked it up yesterday. Thanks to Mitzu and Bartel's for doing a fantastic job... under warranty!

At my own expense, and thanks to Mitzu's diligence and Michael Richter's knowledge at Erik Buell Racing, I was able to upgrade certain parts to the latest versions, bringing my motor up to '10 specs, but retain my '08 stator. For the interested those parts were -
Water pump housing from -Erik Buell Racing
Fifth Gear - Erik Buell Racing
Trans Bearings Erik Buell Racing
I already had an '09 clutch cover.
The rest were under warranty.
Piston Pins - HD
Pistons - HD
Sleeves - HD
Heads - HD
Valves - HD
Bearings - HD

So essentially I have a new motor. Which BTW, runs incredibly strong and smooth; I put 100 miles on it last night.
So it's off the the Buell track day on Saturday. Today the "For Sale" sign goes on the SV650 I bought.
I just love this bike!!!
Now... which canyon today...
Later

Hmm, now you need a pipe to go with that new motor. Maybe an RT-3 for track duty?

Btw, the paint job is kick ass!

Thanks! I put the stock pipe back on to avoid ant potential warranty issues. An RT-3 would be that way to go if I did already have a track system.
That being said, I have to say that I really enjoyed the calm of the stock exhaust last night. I am running without the inner air box and have removed the ring around the gas cap. This gives me a very satisfying intake grunt on acceleration. I think I leave it like this on the street for a while.

Nice looking bike! I would put the inner air box cover back on. I spoke with Erik Buell directly about this mod and he stated that they performed numerous tests to ensure the stock air box was the best it could be. By removing the air box cover you are disrupting the pattern of air flow and therefore hurting the bike more than helping it. This mod may give false horsepower increases on a dyno, but on the road at speed it does not help.

Yeah, I am aware of that. I noticed a definite drop in top end on the track without it, so it will go back on there.

Man I love that paint job... seen alot of American Flag paint jobs but they usually come out gaudy, nicely done!

There is only Captain America. I am but a humble flag bearer. But thanks for the compliments. Hot Rods and Hogs, Stanton CA.

BTW, ran with the Buellers from SCAB at Willow track day today. It was a great time. Also, put my inner air box back on. Much better!

Excellent Rob, congrats on getting everything back together under warranty, as it should be.

So no dyno yet?

I also went back to the stock exhaust and for the street I do truly enjoy the quiet. The FMF uncorked sounded awesome but I must be getting old as I now prefer the quiet.

Nice way to break in the motor Rob, you're still faster than me even taking it easy on the the new tight engine. Too bad you didn't make it back out today because some pro racer, I think, named Josh Hayes was out running around in the other "B" group. Of course he spent more time looking backwards than forwards just seeing who was staying with him.

Well it was great seeing and riding with everybody and I thought about coming out today, but I am soooo sore from not being on my bike for 3 months that I cam barely move. I wish I had started doing this 30 years ago. Better late than never.
It was interesting keeping the motor under 6K and still trying to turn a decent lap. I actually learned a lot from it.
Let's do it again. Maybe at Fontana?
