Looking for thoughts on an A-B comparison of these two pads. EBC Super Rossi Lorenzo Extreme Pro Race pad is $100, doesn't last very long, grips OK at first but fades by half pad, and throws more dust than grandma's attic. Are the $185 Erik Buell Racing fatback pads worth the coin? | ||

Absolutely! I used the Erik Buell Racing race pads all year and they give brilliant feel and stopping power. They last a long time too, one set did 21 races, with 21 wins. So IMHO they're well worth the extra coin. Pat Mooney. | ||

A good pad will have great stopping powerwhen cold, slightly better powerwhen hot, not fade, last a long time, and not be dusty. That's the description of the Vesrah srjl-17 compound and the dunlopad hh compound. Manxboy, is that a good description of the eb r pads too? On a side note, I have always found ebc pads to be unimpressive performing and dusty. I won't ever use them again. | ||

Thefleshrocket, Yes this is how the Erik Buell Racing pads are. I like them for the linear feel you get, you can modulate braking forces very accurately, and the performance never seems to drop off, no fading, not even at Rd America ( a track known to promote brake fade) the extra money, I think, would be well spent. | ||

Are the Erik Buell Racing pads at all suitable for street or purely for race use? I've heard that race pads can be dangerous on the street due to needing more time to build up their effectiveness. | ||

Jim, I'm asking if the Erik Buell Racing pads are any better for street than most other "race" pads or if they have the same caveat that they are slow to warm up to effectiveness. I was hoping to hear from someone who has tried them. | ||

The Dunlopad HH+ compound and the Vesrah SRJL-17 compound both grip very well when cold and get better as they warm, have almost no dust, and are progressive and easy to modulate. Check out the Vesrah chart on this page: http://kurveygirl.com/shop/product_info.php?produc ts_id=195 As you can see, the SRJL-17 compound has the best cold grip. Some of the other Vesrah pads have better stopping power when hot but give up cold stopping power, making them not-so-good for the street, just like Jdugger says. Of course this doesn't really matter for us 1125R guys since Vesrah doesn't offer the SRJL-17 compound for our calipers, but Dunlopad does offer their HH+ compound which performs very similarly to the SRJL-17, at least in my experience. My point being that if someone can't comment as to the EB R pads for street use, the Dunlopad part number SDP993 should make a great street and track pad. | ||
