Hi All I sold my 1125r It wasnt a bad bike but it just didnt meet my expectations, having previously owned a xb12r firebolt I was expecting the 1125 to have the same character and have loads of power the firebolt lacked. My 1125 just never felt like it had 140 odd bhp compared to similar powered bikes ive had and it lacked the character of the firebolt. Add to that always having in my mind that the alternator would probably blow at some point i decided to give up. Shame tho as fundementally the bike had potential, if Buell had survived im sure the next generation 1125r or whatever would have been a much better bike. Anyway good luck and thanks for the help I got on this forum Stu |

Your bike didn't have "140 odd bhp". It had like 125 bhp. Just sayin'. |

My experience, coming from an 03 XB9R, has been the opposite. Loretta is obviously evolved from the XB but is so much more refined. Instrumentation is a quantum leap. The transmission shifts "like buttah" instead of a tractor-style KLUNK. Mechanically, reliable enough for me, any problems have been efficiently dealt with. I gambled with a RevA bike, for me it's payed off in spades. Two cross-country trips, lots of commuting and the occasional jaunt into the hills for some twisty therapy. Just shy of 26k miles. Last May, the stars aligned and I got an 09 Uly. "The Beast" has assumed the majority of the commuting and provides a comfy spot for my wife too. This should let me have more "quality time" when I ride Loretta. Hope you find a bike that makes you happy. Zack |

I have had some of these same issues with regards to my current CR and my past XB12sTT....I'm sticking with the CR because I love the power and modern engine, but in many ways my TT was more fun, and I liked the narrow look...I sold my "TT" because in the end I didn't warm up to the HD motor and the abrupt rev limiter...the day I hit the limiter coming out of a fast sweeper while still leaned over was the day I sold the "TT"..may have been a rash move, but I damn near crashed (hard) too many laps on Desmos I guess...long live the CR |

Maybe you should have shifted? |

I had a M2 tuber and enjoyed the low end that the CR seems to lack, but the mid to top end pull is just too much fun to ignore. It's a fun ride that still has way more character than a cookie cutter inline 4. |

Your bike didn't have "140 odd bhp". It had like 125 bhp. Just sayin'. 125 would be rwhp or rear wheel horse power. BHP as I know it to be used, has always referred to the actual power output of an engine before all the parasitic losses caused by drive line, transmission, etc. |

Yup Peak Horsepower 146 hp Right off the buell.com website. That being i find mine has WAY freakin more HP then i ever need/want, Wish i would have taken a STT or Ully. Something that didn't threaten to rip up my license every time i climb on her, (Message edited by ratgin on October 28, 2010) |

After putting 3 top ends on my s1 over a period of 95K miles, I have yearned for a motor that wouldn't be stressing itself to an early demise. I seriously doubt that driving around at 5-7K rpm will lead to the CR's early demise. |

"Maybe you should have shifted?" Or not tried to ride a tractor like a desmo Still miss the "TT" but that's the way it goes...I tend to forget the bad and remember the good....and so far the CR is nothing but great! |

> I seriously doubt that driving around at 5-7K rpm will lead to the CR's early demise. Definitely not. I'd say that's its happy range. I rode an 08 like that for 30,000 miles then turned it into a race bike and banged it off the rev limiter for another 12,000 miles. After all that abuse... and I mean ABUSE... it was a bit soft on power but still ran well and was perfectly reliable. That same race bike is on it's way back from Erik Buell Racing prepped for next year with a fresh motor and race tune... |

Does your fresh motor happen to have 1190cc now? |

> Does your fresh motor happen to have 1190cc now? Nope, it's a stock motor. I don't have the coin for an 1190 build, and this way I'm still eligible for SuperStock rules in CMRA next year. My chassis was in pretty tough shape and a lot of basics (steering head bearings, swing arm pivots, oil cooler, etc) had to be replaced from 3+ years of very hard riding and inattentive care on my part. Rumors from East Troy did indicate just slightly shy of 150 RWHP, though. Cam timing, full-system race exhaust and a good tune really wake this motor up! She's gonna be a rocket, I think. Next season I just gotta learn how to ride! |

Jim, that's it! I'm getting that basic 1190 motor for sure. I know you can out ride me so I have to get all the help I can. |

I want to. I start a new fly out job Monday. Not sure how it's all going to pan out yet. Definitely want to do more WERA west and race with you and my other friends in Tay-haus next year. |

hey Jdugger, what tracks do you run at? Is there a stock class? I live in the Dallas area also and would love to at least get to a track every so often. |

I race with CMRA. There's several "stock" classes the 1125r is eligible to race in. Make sure by stock you mean "no major modifications" not "race a street legal bike". You are still required to safety wire, run water in the cooling system, and other reasonable modifications to the bike to make it safe for racing. As for just getting on track, there's lots of local track day operations, and Cresson and ECR are both membership-model tracks. |
