I found some pics I thought I would share. Bartimus, Debbie, Lynn and I met up in Lake City over the 4th of July weekend.
I ended up riding Barts ST1300 back with Jody on the S2T and Bart and Deb in Jody's truck as Bart was not feeling well enough to ride. |

Yeah, it was hot out that day. Unlike today, when the temperature just kept dropping on me. I left Canon about 3pm to get a ride in and went toward Westcliffe. I decided to see if I could catch the sunshine to the east and headed for Walsendburg. I did catch up with the sun there and it was nice, but then it was also 5pm. Started my way up I25 towards Rye with a fierce headwind. Then, after exiting to head west on 165 the sun got lower and the temps did too! The ambient temp on the CR dash showed about 55 degrees by the time I reached Bishops Castle. That and all the deer kept me slowed down. By the time I reached Wetmore I was very cold and very stiff. But then the temps rose a little bit as I neared Canon City. Time to get the winter riding gear out. Oh, and the Sangre de Cristos did have some snow on them! |

That last picture is kinda scary. What's that nice looking girl on the left doing hanging out with those hooligans? Get well quick, Lynn! rt |

A bunch of us Buellers spent the day Saturday at High Plains Raceway supporting our racer friends for the last race weekend of the year. All did really well with John FiField winning his 5th straight expert race and he had more than enough points to win the championship in his race category. Congrats to all of you for a fun and exciting season of racing. |

Thanks Jeff, Julie and Tom....today was a much better day...down to one percocet a day... Tomorrow I am going to stop by the Harley Shop after work and check on my bike and I am to leave my jacket and helmet so the adjuster can look at it next time he checks on the progress of my bike. Glad everyone had fun at the track, was a perfect day for it!! |

Texans... At least you weren't wearing cowboy boots. Off to the VA in Ft Collins for a hearing test. woohoo. Gorgeous day now that the rain quit, still deciding which bike to take. I think the Beast will win. Z |

huh? Not too bad, lost some high-end still not ready for a hearing aid. I am legally blind in my right eye now tho, VA will fix in a few months. Getting old sux, but it beats the alternative. I think... Z |

Well, my baby is gone. Sold the XB tonite to a really nice guy from Colorado Springs. His name is Aaron and he looks great on the bike. It was weird seeing it go down the driveway. Enjoy the bike Aaron. |

Yes I did but we have been very busy since I returned. And Jody, it just so happens I have a set of XB 2003 forks in the garage that I do not have use for PLUS a complete 98 S3 that I am using the motor from. I doubt anyone would be interested in that so I will post those parts for sale in the classified soon... Jody, we can talk about the forks if you are interested. Frank |

Frank, hmmm, I do have a set of forks I bought already, but haven't put on. I was waiting until a good weekend for both of us when I could bring the XB over in my truck. If there is a problem with the ones I bought I might could use the ones you have, and recompense as necessary. At this rate it may be Thanksgiving before either of us have time. |

Not a happy camper today. No, I didn't go camping, but I started to head out on the CR today and saw the engine/battery combo light come on. Switched to see the voltage readout and sure enough, less than 12 volts. Looks like a third stator has failed me. I am trying not to be angry about it, but it ain't easy. Fortunately I was less than a mile from the garage and got it back pronto. I decided to take a ride in the pickup to get my mind off of it for a bit. When I got back I stopped by and read the mileage and cranked the engine. It was still reading just below 12 volts and the battery light was still on. I don't have access to AC power so I can't put the battery on a trickle charger. I think the stator is in transition to failure without being completely fried. I think I am going to take it up to High Country like it is. I don't trust getting it out on the road at all now. |

Man, that sucks Jody... More reason to get the XB back on the road or maybe you have already. I hate that you are having problems with the stator. I think Lynn is working Saturday so let me know all you need to do to the XB. Also, when do you plan to go up to HCHD. I need to make a trip up to NRHS. Frank |

Frank, I'm going to call HCHD tomorrow and see about bringing it up next Saturday. I'd be glad to make a stop by NRHS, too. The XB just needs to have the fork tubes installed, the belt installed, the battery recharged, and any little miscellaneous items after sitting for 6 months. The front and rear lifts is what I don't have and that has held me up. |

Sorry to hear about your stator issues Jody. I had the wire harness "upgrade" done on my 1125R around 1500 miles...and I do not like the way it is now designed to work...but I only had about 2000 miles on the bike when I left for Iraq so no failed stators for me yet. I assume that you have been following the stator talk on the 1125 section of Badweb, but it looks like we have several options: 1. Continue to have the dealer fix it under warranty with the same inferior parts. 2. Replace the stator, stator cover, and rotor with the 2008 setup (expensive). 3. Have the bad stator rewound with higher grade heat shielding...and possibly go with a MOSFET voltage regulator. But last week I read that HD is claiming that they have seen no failed stators after the wire harness upgrade (stators that spent their entire life in a wire harness upgraded bike), all of the stators sent back to them were replaced by the dealer because the dealers do not understand the wire harness upgrade (not because they were bad). Personally I think that is garbage, but HD has sent out detailed information to all of the dealers. One part of this information seems to be instructing them to relocate the RV ground connection...and one person is seeing a immediate improvement to the voltage output. Time will tell if this is of any substance...or just another band aid. I would have HCHD show you the stator to see if it is fried...and the best course of action would be to make sure they send it back to HD as an example of a post wire harness upgrade failure. But personally I would probably see if I could acquire the dead part and have it rewound for my next failure, then try option 3 above! |

I'll talk to Eloy today and make sure the bad stator gets to them. Jody, did you ever e-mail Michael at Erik Buell Racing about this? Since they say they haven't seen a stator fail living completely on the updated harness. As far as I know, that's exactly what happened to you. I'm keeping 3 eyes on this issue... Z |

Colorado Lemon Laws and the federal Lemon Law (the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act) provide for compensation to Colorado consumers of defective automobiles and trucks and other vehicles and products including motorcycles, RV’s, boats, computers and other consumer appliances and products. To qualify under the Colorado Lemon Law or the federal Lemon Law, you must generally have a product that suffered multiple repair attempts under the manufacturer’s factory warranty. Lemon Law compensation can include a refund, replacement or cash compensation. Eating a Stator less than every 1,000 miles may qualify. Something to think about Jody. |

After speaking with Zack on the phone tonight I am going to use the opportunity to gather some data points for Erik Buell Racing. I plan to do that this Friday. I will do some short test runs and monitor temperatures and voltage from cold start to hot run, and at idle and various rev ranges. If it is failing then I will run it till it fails and maybe get some useful data for people smarter than me to use. |

Did a 100 mile ride yesterday up Coal Creek canyon to peak to peak then to Central city and back thru Evergreen. Peak to Peak has been sanded. Some snow along the road in patches and in the trees. Was a bit cold up there but not bad. Probably one of the last rides of the year up that high in the mountains. |

Dan and I did a nice ride today, about 180 miles. Did a similar route that you did John. Went up Deer Creek into Conifer, thru Evergreen down to Central City Pkwy, to Golden Gate Canyon. Then back to Morrison and again to Evergreen to Turkey Creek then headed home. It was a beautiful day out there. I love that CR. It has some nice power. Hope you all are enjoying this incredible weather in November. |

Sounds like a great ride Julie. Just saw the weather report and the next 7 days does not look good for riding. Oh well, this great weather had to end sometime. Glad you like the CR and congrats on selling your XB. |
