So I don't have to go out and try it myself, what is the top speed of a stock 07 uly? so when people ask "how fast will it go?" I can tell them without risking a big ticket. |

I just answer that question with the truth - I have no idea. I'll never understand why that's the first question so many people ask. On my way to work tonight, someone asked me how fast my 50cc Yamaha Zuma goes. Really? How fast does it look like it goes, douchebag? (I resisted saying that part out loud) 40mph with a tailwind was my answer |

Top speed = 219 km/h Tested on German Autobahn. Riders weight incl. gear 100 kg. Doing a quick conversion, that works out to like 162 MPH...wow! . |

"Ahhh, no. 219kmh = 136.08mph." No, you must be converting to Australian MPH, not American MPH. American MPH would be 162.07 MPH, to be exact. It's a common mistake, actually. . |

I've had my 09 XT at 120mph (American) at 6k rpm. The front end became really light so I backed off. I think it could've made 140, so 136 works for me. If I'm in a bar drunk, 162! |

For most it looks like a crotch rocket. Even the Uly. 9/10 people tell me it's a sport bike / crotch rocket. To those who don't have one, or know about Buell motorcycles, they are sport bikes pure & simple What are crotch rockets know for to most? GOING FAST. If it looks fast, people want to know how fast it is. Even scooters. Whether it looks fast/slow/funny/cute/whatever, people want to know how fast it'll go. We are a world culture that loves speed. How much money does racing in all it's forms generate? Billions maybe Trillions. I want to know how fast something goes. Be it my Uly, KLR, or beat up truck. I wanted to know how fast my '69 Ford Falcons would go, so I found out. I like to know what the limit of the machines I use are. It helps to use that machine more correctly. Asking how fast something goes is a natural human question. For lots of different reasons, and for curiosity itself. Ask a car / bike / boat / etc., sales person what the first 5 or even 3 questions are. Maybe a person wants to beat a ninja 600 in a line, see's someone on a Buell X1 and likes the look of it. Maybe they want to buy one. So, a smart person would ask how fast they go, and quickly learn a Buell X1 is not the bike for them. Maybe they see a guy on a scooter, and think , "Cool, economical way to get to work, or cruise around the area on. Something to run up to 7-11 on. Wonder if I should get one? Wonder if they are fast enough to get out on (road X)?" So they ask. When I asked a similar question about 0-60 times, I got some negative answers back. I was curious, so I asked the question. I didn't ask for an opinion on the question itself, but some sort of factual numerical answer. Some people are douchebags and smart asses. Many just want to know. I try to look at these types of questions as an opportunity to educate. So: '09 Uly XT - K&N, Breather re-route. I weigh 230-240. Faster now that it has 10K+ miles on it. Loaded W/bags 125 - indicated Unloaded 132 - indicated Could have squeezed more out but stopped. |
