I just changed my seals, bushings, etc. on my front forks and now they both leak. They may be slightly bent from an accident, but they looked straight and felt good. I did not check runout when they were off. One leaks just sitting and one leaks after riding. Before I do the job again, is a very slightly bent tube likely to cause this? |

I would not think a slight bend would cause a leak just maybe a riding or steering problem. Did you use the seal install tool. You may have damaged the seals on installation. Lubricate the seals with something like Sil-glide before you try installing them. I have done a few fork overhauls and not had a leak YET. Probably just got lucky. Let us know what you find out and good luck. OH they must be inverted? |

i have a weeping left fork leg on my 99 M2,but only when left standing,it has been replaced and has started doing it again,it do,s not leak when used,a mechanic told me to put a feeler gauge blade down it as some dirt may be in it i did that and it stopped weeping for a couple of weeks,it passed its MOT like it but i took it for a run before taking it for the test so no sign of any oil, a knowledgeable friend of mine told me its lack of use ??? |

I am pretty sure I put the seals in upside down. The FSM does not say which way, so I put them in the logical way, with the chamfered edge first. I even asked the dealership which direction, and after several checks with the techs, they told me the same. I am quite certain this is WRONG. I pulled apart another tube I had and it was in the other direction. Can anyone confirm? |

I guess on my M2's they can only go in one way. What are you working on. |
