okay so it would seem that it never ends. this is what i just found after getting home from work. i just picked the bike up a few weks back after having the entire rear brake replaced by Adamec's Harley on Baymeadows here in Jacksonville. this thing is killing me!!!

im guessing that's from swing arm deflection in the corners and honestly may have been there before but i doubt it because i keep a pretty close eye on Betty. i've never heard of an aftermarket bushing or bearing setup to help stiffen the pivot point. thoughts on solutions?

I've noticed that the rear MC is pretty close to swingarm on mine - not that close, though. I have applied the 10 finger persuader to make a little more clearance - at least it's not a fluid carrying swingarm..FWIW.

You think you're getting that much side to side play in the swingarm? Seems like you would definitely notice that...

Check the mounting bolts that hold the rt.footpeg bracket. You may have one broken.

If by any reason they removed the rear shock when performing the brake repair, they could have let the swing arm pivot more than the normal movement the swing arm is supposed to have. That happened to mine when I removed my rear shock and i dropped the swingarm more than its normal travel and it got scratched by the brake pedal mechanism. I don't know if I' making any sense. Please excuse my english.

Def glad its a dry arm

It has been feeling a little sloppy but I'm no expert and come from cruisers that have lots of play

i did tug on the boot guard/master cylinder brackets and they seem pretty firmly planted so i don't think it's a broken bolt and i really don't think that was there before they worked on the brakes. can someone please take a few detailed shots of the area i can't hardly help but wonder if they missed a spacer or something in the reassembly

On mine it was the cotter pin that holds the rear brake mechanism. It rubbed and made an indentation pretty much like yours in the picture.

Boog

This is what I got, sorry if not as sharp as I'd like. It looks like you have the reservoir hose clamps turned away from the swingarm, so it's not that.

Boog,if you can, have someone stand on foot peg while you look at the bracket-pretty sure you have a broken bolt.

Well... stopped in to Adamecs and their initial thought was that 'something' got caught in there and caused the gouge. I guess I have more patience than I thought. My mind was screaming. Have an appointment for Monday for further diagnostic. I told the guy 'i can't imagine that anything was caught in there' as he suggested.

update on mine -it's quite possibly due to the threads for the upper bolt being stripped out. check yours!
