Sure wish I could hang off my bike like that- impressive. Unfortunately, I'm old, fat, and broken, and just can't get my body to bend that way anymore. You can easily see the black line you're laying down with the rear tire in that last photo- they're really cool right up to the point where you see your back tire pass you on the right...
Jraice - how's the bike? I'm always worried about that on the Buell - think if I ever had more room in the garage I'd pick up a second-hand CBR or something for track days - it would crush me if I really banged up the Buell.
Buell is fine. All the small bits are broken on the left side but should be easy to repair. Most expensive part is the CR1125 handle bar. Biggest problem is the clutch I burnt riding back through the dirt in 3rd gear . New clutch plates will hopefully be all it needs.
I just have a sore shoulder, as you can see I was already pretty low so its not like I took much of a fall. Surprisingly my leathers somehow made out with only a rub mark on the elbow. Trashed my gloves as well but they were due for replacement either way.
Wow. Great pics, and you looked like you were having a blast.
Glad that you and the bike made out relatively OK.
Dare I also say that in that last photo, I wonder if you were already sensing that all was not well...your head is not as turned into the turns as it is in other pics...now I'm NOT criticizing!!! Just saying--I wonder if you were conciously/subconciously aware of something being amiss at the moment that photo was taken.
Its possible but honestly I remember every second of it and recall thinking in my head all was well and that I had a really good entry and line into the turn ahaha... It was right as I cracked open the throttle that things slipped all the sudden. Weird how it takes your mind a second to realize whats happening even as you slide on the ground!
But I suppose this shot could've been JUST before the slide, but I thought it was a few feet passed this point in the turn.
Loud and low I guess I forgot to mention that... Cold tires was totally the cause, well the cause was me pushing too hard on the outlap.
This was the 11th turn and 9th left turn of the session. Had only gone around 1 mile. I was railing through most of the turns even dragging knee by turn 2 but I guess this turn decided the tires were a bit too cold for a hard exit.
I did 2 track days at TGPR Sept 11-12 and had a blast on my XB9SR. In my pics I am really sitting up straight. I wonder if the 1125CR bars would help with that. I was thinking about getting some clip-ons though.
I rode Novice first and got bumped up to Intermediate the second day. I was passing the whole field by the end of the first day in novice but was rudely awakened by some of the intermediate riders. I did get some passing done in intermediate but mostly got passed. I had so much fun just not sure when I can afford another track day.
I did run off the track once on the second day and nearly high sided too. On the run off I got passed by an instructor and it threw me off so I target fixated toward the outside of turn 2. On the near high side I just lost the rear end but it caught before it had gone too far and only bucked me a little in turn 3.
Cannot wait to do another track day. I'll try to post some pics.
