Ok, so I'm wondering if I'm having some clearance issues. I have not completely tightened up all the bolts, but want to make sure that my header isn't going to get marred up if I bolt it up (which I'm going to go finish here in a sec. Well, here's the underside when slid up to the vertical post just aft of the air cleaner, on the lower frame rail. Not my setup, but in the position I have it in: Now, my header/frame slider clearance. Opinions? |

Maybe that's meant for an "over the frame" exhaust? Banke parts should be there on Tuesday, BTW. |

Roger, it's for the under the frame. I just wonder if the XB heads/Race header combination is the factor. Heads shouldn't have changed the position though, but the photo above shows it with the stock header. Race header may be a slightly different bend there then stock? Didn't think so. Just trying to figure it out. Thanks again, been looking for them, LOL |

Here's a photo of my setup to mimic the "photo of how it's supposed to be" : I know the black piece is spun differently, but that's just a matter of loosening a bolt and turning it. Now, some angles after tightened up: The last picture shows how close it really is in the front of the slider. I have a feeling that the motors vibrations in the frame will cause header to contact the slider resulting in a perfect header looking like garbage in about two bumps. Ideas? |

I have mine forward of the position they show on the LSL website due to clearance both from the D&D pipe and my knees. I'm not sure you could put it anywhere on that right side in order to protect the pipe completely. Looking at photos of a stock pipe set up, there is definitely more clearance there.

I would put it there but the race air cleaner is covering that frame spot. |

I noticed, perhaps have that backside bracket of the slider machined for more clearance? |

May have to look into that, I just wonder why I'd be having clearance issues. Hmm.. |

I have to measure mine...but do the race headers have larger diameter primary tubes? I know the collectors are larger.... Either that, or your isolators could be wearing, causing the frame to sit lower on the engine. |

Joe, Remember, this is a brand new build, complete frame off rebuild? |

I'd clearance the mounting plate. 1/8" clearance or so should be plenty. Blackm2, those sliders are directional. The "tail" is supposed to be in the back. |

I figured that out awhile ago Rick, just haven't fixed it yet. |

Also seems to add just a smidgen if you slide the mounting bracket right up to the weld line (forward.) When I tighten mine, I get about 1/8 to 3/16 clearance. But it's just a solid piece of billet, it's not going to be hurt by getting a little hot. More likely to help with cooling due to heat transfer, than to hurt anything. |
