Hey all. Speed triple guy here looking for more power less weight in a more dedicated sport bike and i think i found it. Just bought the 08 with 382 miles on it and a year left on the warranty. haven't got on it too much yet but the low end grunt makes me giddy, can't believe how this thing wants to lean the way it does! Question: I don't think any ecm updates or recalls have been done to this bike, what all is on the list that i need to have harley sort out on this thing? Thanks in advance and look forward to meeting some of you Chicagoland guys out there! ( we are everywhere) |

Torch, don't even bother with getting updates. Get the Erik Buell Racing race ecm for the stock configuration. If in the future you decide to get an exhaust (Keda Designs!!!) then you can send the ECM back to get reflashed for 25 bucks. Without a shadow of a doubt, the first thing needed for your motorcycle is the Erik Buell Racing Race ECM. |

Eh, I use the stock ECM on my 09 with stock exhaust. It's smooth and runs great. The Erik Buell Racing ecm is really nice (I have one on my race bike) but isn't a must-have accessory. The bike runs smooth without it, you just have to *ride* it. |

JD, I can say from personal experience that the '08 R is indeed NOT smooth without the Erik Buell Racing ECM. In fact, it doesn't really run that well. The Erik Buell Racing ECM makes the bike run the way it was supposed to and gets rid of a lot of heat issues. It's definitely a must have for the '08 1125R. |

I can say from personal experience the contrary. 50,000+ miles of personal experience in the seat of an 08, in fact. |

Agree to disagree then, haha. You can get 50,000+ miles out of anything and it still run like crap. |

I know that the dealer has a reflash for the ecm that is supposed to clear up fuel mileage and heat concerns. Is the Racing ECM a core swap? What other "recalls" are there on the 08 model. Going on vacation next week and would love to use that time to get any updates out of the way. Oh! Another question for the 620 mile service. if i just change the oil myself and dont let harley rape me for the service. Will that void my warranty? Thanks guys for all your kind greetings! |

nope, $250 gets you a new ECM so you can keep the stock if you want. |
