So I crashed my '09 1125r in august and just got the frame and swingarm painted today with the buell phantom metallic spray paint. I have to say this stuff is awesome! Almost exact perfect match. I only wonder how durable it will be. Check out the link to see all the pictures of the wrecked bike and the repair process. Also, make sure you have adequate ventilation, this stuff is nasty! I stunk up the whole shop even with the exhaust fan running. If anyone is interested the part number of the paint is M0301.6AAYCX. Thanks. I've been out of the body work game for quite a few years so I'm proud of how well it turned out. Now I just need to slowly start getting new plastics to replace the damaged ones. I'm thinking I might buy more of the paint and paint all the old plastics with it. Not sure how that would look though, good thing I could always paint them again. | ||

Thanks for posting the part number. Do you think it would work for a touch-up? I have a scar from who knows where on the swingarm and a spray pattern sounds like it could blend quite nicely. | ||

I didn't spray the whole frame or swingarm, just the areas that were scratched. I blended into the old finish to make sure it would match. So basically a touch up is all I did. I just masked everything off because when I test sprayed a piece of cardboard there was overspray absolutely EVERYWHERE! I had to clean metallic flakes off everything in my home garage. Also prep work is key to an undetectable repair. make sure you feather out from the scar area when sanding. If you just spray it over a scratch or something you'll still see it under the paint. Good luck if you choose to try it, I still have to do the left side of my swingarm from backing it into the peg of my X1. | ||

What grit did u use to feather the areas back? | ||

I ended with 400 grit on a 3" da sander with a foam backing pad. I still can't see any signs of a repair. |
