Author Message   Revz Posted on Friday, October 08, 2010 - 12:09 pm:        Front Brakes have started to buzz, sounds like high pitched zzzzzzzzzzzz. Brake pads are fairly new ~1000m, I took them off, they looked good, and put them back on, sound did not change. Took front fender off, sound did not change, rode with engine off, brakes applied, sound did not change. Is it the rotor? I had Lyndall's that "zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz". I loved them. I guess the strange thing is that it took a few miles before they started the buzz. At first I thought it was a leaf stuck in the brakes. So I guess I'll just ride and live with it.. Not noticeable when riding, but when moving the bike around the garage. There have been a few instances where I have heard it when rolling to a stop, as well. This is a brand new, new style rotor on my X1. I know that a small amount of contact is considered normal, but I'm concerned about warping, and the rotor is only two months old. Should I be concerned? Lay it on the work bench ... With a 2X2 block of wood with #80 grit sand paper attached to it and do the following ... Make a swirl pattern around the rotor, turn it over and do the other side to brake the glaze on the rotor ... More than likely it took a few miles to grind the glaze off. I liked the buzz because it was an auditory reference as to how much braking was being applied.   Buellistic Posted on Saturday, October 09, 2010 - 07:58 pm:        SORRY, but "i" forgot to add putting NAPA Disc Brake QUITE PN 765-1444 between the pads and caliper pistons ... This stuff stops brake pad rattle, "BUT" an added benefit is that when the pistons pull back into the calipers it also pulls the pads with them ...
