Let me start off with how the night went. I HAD A BLAST! I know my reaction time suck, and I know my 60 ft times suck. Well everything sucked really. I took the bike onto the track right off of the street. No strap, regular tire pressures, did my two runs and then went home because there was a big wreck that had to be cleaned up and the kids were starting to get cranky. Both lanes were really sticky, and it was really hard to keep the front end out of the air. It would wheelie, and I would let off a bit to bring her down, and then grab the throttle again and then the ass would go crazy. When the ass of the bike would get crazy, I didn't let off, just kept the throttle where it was at until it stopped. But when the back would catch the front end would start coming up again. Neither run did I ever get close to wide open on the throttle. I'm just happy that my second run was better than my first. But don't really understand why all of my times were better, but my speed was slower on the second run.I know of a really nice long stretch of abandoned pavement that I'm going to practice my launches on this week. What else can I work on besides my launches? Run 1 Reaction 1.79 60 ft. 2.43 1/8 8.71 1/8 mph 90.54 1/4 13.18 1/4 mph 108.36 Run 2 Reaction 1.49 60 ft. 2.26 1/8 8.4 1/8 mph 84.48 1/4 13.15 1/4 mph 103.00 Leaving a hell of a lot on the line aren't I? |

yes, you are. But thats around the same short runs I had at first, too. You are not getting full throttle. Its a looong twist on these things. I have to actually talk to myself in the helmet and remind my hand to twist it full. Even with those 60s your trap speed is way off, so I gotta assume you arent getting full twist. I'm a rookie also, but strapping is a MUST. Past 4 weeks I am 60ing at 1.8, and was in low 2s without the strap. Seat time is the only way to get *close* to the level of Littlebutquick and Mike1125r. Those 2 are in a league of their own! Another piece from a new guy- get it down to a ritual...do the SAME thing, round after round. Do not vary on the pre race and staging habits. Get robotic. Watch the tree as much as possible when not racing. The tree has been my best friend the past 3 weeks. if your dial is good, the tree is going to make or break you. I spent hours watching the tree all summer (since i had no bike) and could probably close my eyes after the first amber and cut a fair light. Nothing better than scoring bye runs. 2 weeks ago we went 5 rounds, and I got 2 byes and a lane choice that night. Cant lose when its just you Spend the $20 on an approved strap, preload all out, rebound all up- and go win some trophies! |

wait...on your lights you mean .179 , not 1.79 right? You aren't waiting for green are you? Go on a "stale" 3rd amber. This shot is from time trials, and shows why lights are important.

You'll get it. You are probably a full blown addict already....took me one run last year to become obsessed. Also made some of the best friends I've ever had.Don't EVER think you cant do it, or aren't good enough. Be patient and focused- and don't dwell on trap speeds or how fast the other guys are. Run YOUR race, and the wins WILL come. These bikes are rock solid for dial , Tree the MFrs and let the bike do the rest |

Run 1 Reaction 1.79 60 ft. 2.43 1/8 8.71 1/8 mph 90.54 1/4 13.18 1/4 mph 108.36 Run 2 Reaction 1.49 60 ft. 2.26 1/8 8.4 1/8 mph 84.48 1/4 13.15 1/4 mph 103.00 Lots of practice. Look at your first run with a slower 60' compared to your second run however your MPH was down (6mph at the 1/8th and 5mph at the 1/4)} despite being faster out of the gate. IMO you left a 12.9 on the track with that second run. My own personal expierence has found that I am not always at wide open throttle as soon as I can be. This cost time. I believe you said you had raced some years ago. It will come back to you with seat time. As others have suggested, strap the front end to help keep the nose down. From there WOT as soon as possible and dead on shifts. Before you know it you'll be running 10's aiming for 9's! |

It was a Sportsman tree. But hell, I was waiting until I saw green anyway. Thanks to our mild winters here in NC, I'll get a lot of track time this winter. Hope you guys don't get tired of giving advice! Puzzled, any progress on the wheelie bar kits? |

thats nice and all, but it doesnt take into play roll of the wheel/how you stage etc get on the track and get practice, all of the time will improve |

yea, nothing like seat time-but good for getting used to 'guessing green' I am a rookie but did VERY well in my abbreviated season (5 starts- 1 semi 1 r/u 1 win) and attribute the success to 'knowing' the tree. I attended the races all summer even though the bike was down, and watched the tree hours on end. Scored a lot of bye runs -and admittedly some luck- but anyway, just want Budgolf see that you can't wait for green if you want to go rounds. The rest of it needs seat time ,but lights get you byes, and ya cant lose there |

.200 is not a bad light, you will go rounds at .200 unless you are running national level pro ET against guys with multi hit crossover boxes...at that level, almost anything over .150 will put you back in the box...it is common for 1/4 final and better guys to consistently cut .005 lights when crossing over a full tree using a delay box like a Biondi 3 hit. The other end of the story is the package time (R.T. + time over dial)...at top levels, you need packages in the .008 range...E.T racing is the hardest form of dragracing...it takes razor sharp reflexes, riding skill, and attention to details... My best package was at a Prostar even, semi-final one year at the World Finals in G-Ville...had a .003 package...beat my opponent by .001.....I had a .501 (.001 by todays figures) and ran 8.552 on an 8.550 BTW...as an aside...nitrous REALLY helps with consistency... |
