Howdy all, I ride a 2008 1125R, and I've started to experience some problems with my clutch. Oil temperature and oil levels are all normal while I've experienced these problems. 1)When in 1st gear, I can feel that the clutch is engaged even though the hand lever is fully squeezed 2)Hand lever has little resistance when squeezing 3)When slowing down or down shifting, bike suddenly stalls out and has to be restarted I'm going through the service manual now, and trying to find a solution to this problem. Could this be a loss of vacuum in they hydraulic system that can just be resolved with bleeding the line? Thanks in advance for the help. |

I would start with bleeding it. However, it stalling may be something else like the switch not making full contact. Start with the bleed and go from there. (Message edited by Kidder on September 30, 2010) |

I bet you are out of fluid in the res and it needs to be bled. |

I just bled the line; I didn't see any air come out the line. Perhaps it's another problem. The reserve level is within limits, so I'm not sure what the problem is. |

I pulled the lever in while the vent cap was off...oil squirt out, so I don't think it's empty. |

Push a piece of clear tubing over the bleed screw (what the "vent cap" goes over). Let the tubing go straight up. With pressure applied (just a bit..) to clutch, open the bleed screw with wrench. Allow handle to approach but not touch grip... Close bleed screw. Slowly release handle. Repeat. You will want to loop the tubing down into a can etc as you need to upward swoop to keep air from back washing into the system however once that is covered you need to let it go into a catch of some sort.... |
