Glitch - I grew up right outside of Augusta in a little town called Waynesboro. Spent the first part of my life there. Moved to VA for work. Ekruizenga - I'm riding down on the Uly. If ya'll are riding out let me know. My plan was to leave Thursday AM also. |

I'm leaving Maryland (45 minutes north of DC) on Thursday AM, rolling down to Charlottesville VA area, hopping on the BRP, riding it down as far as I can, heading over to 81...and wingin' it. Not sure if I want to darken Vern's doorstep again on the way down (if he's even there - he may have already left for BTF4 by then!) or if I'll have enough cojones to keep on rollin' to TWO. Not like I'll have a tent with me if I get tired LOL. Happy to meet up with any and all along the way though. Groups are always more fun than riding solo, especially after hours and hours and hours....(my run should be about 15 hours on the BRP route; GPS shows 10 on the slab, but what fun is that??). |

Joe, Let me know what time you think you will be making it to Charlottesville. I'll meet you up there. I'm sure we can force our way to TWO that night. |

Worst case, I'll be carrying my spare fan (unless I ride the S2, which, if I can figure out how to pack it, is a possibility). Problem with carrying my spare is, I carry it for a reason....the one in the bike is starting to sound like a can full of marbles. But if someone needs it immediately and I haven't had to use it yet...I can bring it along. |

Joe, it sounds like you will be in Thursday night for B(bonfire)B(burgers)B(beer). We are heading down Friday to Blairsville/Suches. Feel free to bring stragglers to camp at my place Thursday night and don't forget the BBB is still free and there is a good possibility Sandy will make breakfast for everyone again, she enjoys doing that. I have every plan for you to darken my doorstep again, as it became lighter from your presents! Look for Froggy, he is planning to attend again. |

I see on the stromfront thread that there are rides planned to the Dragon, and possible elsewhere. I'm all about going to back to Deal's Gap, but aren't the roads in the area of TWO worth riding as well? |

The roads around TWO are great. Even better than the Gap in many ways. Too many tourists and idiots on the Dragon. But we didn't get to ride the skyway last year so we're going back. |

Rocco, but aren't the roads in the area of TWO worth riding as well? You'll not miss the Dragon at all. Wolf pen Gap is right beside T.W.O. You're going to be amazed at what kinds of roads you'll travel just to get here. T.W.O. is literally in the middle of some of the best roads in the South East. Google Maps: Suches, GA Also check here:Twisted Maps Everything in Twisted maps is in the immediate area. |

We've got two HD GoPros and an HD camcorder to play with. Don't worry Chili, it'll be just like you're there, only in pictures. Here's what we call "The Loop" It's only the worm up

Well, I'm about 2 hours from Charlottesville and the plan is to leave no later than 8am. Hopefully 7. ish. But, PM me a cell phone # and I can send you a text when I'm rolling out. I do have a Scala headset so if need be I can be called while on the road (still haven't figured out how to safely *place* calls though...). Vern - thanks for the invite. Depending on if I ride with anyone, and how our gluteal-fortitude is doing...we may stop in, we may roll straight through. You're only (straight line) a couple hours from TWO, right? We shall see...and we'll see if Froggy bites. Been offering to run down with him - me on my S2, him on his 1125, just to prove to him that a tuber isn't a dinosaur LOL. If I miss BBB at the House O' Vern...I'm sure there will be a chance to make it up on Friday and Saturday nights at TWO |

..and yes. The roads are un-freakin-be-LIEV-able down there. The Dragon was my least favorite last year. Good surfaces everywhere, good banking, clear shoulders (no branch overhang, good sightlines), no debris, no tar stripes....good stuff. And if you're NOT on the Dragon...no camera-morons in every corner making everybody show off. No cops at every turn. No "pressure". Just great roads, and great scenery. And some decent company, too |

...compared to Maryland, where tar snakes are a way of life (if it ain't tar and chip, it's tar snakes...)...yeah, that's "no" tar strips in my book! |

You can start with The Loop, and connect it with the Richard Russell Parkway Loop. You may run into a local or two that'll show ya some roads less traveled. Here's the Richard Russell Loop. I like the satellite images, gives you an idea of the elevation changes.
