I'd be happy to help you out! What do you want out of a turbo setup and how do you plan to put it together? Do you have any fab skills or will you be paying others to do the work?

I am interested to know what size turbo, what kind of manifold, wastegate and b.o.v you running and computer /fuel controls ie missing link etc. i have turbo'd a lot of things and have considered adding a turbo to my firebolt since i bought it; i read i think on wikipedia on how the xb were meant to be turbo'd from the factory to reach 150 hp but Harley recanted. Any help would be greatly appreciated and props for the wicked set-up!

I use a Garrett GT22 turbo, stock exhaust manifold connected to turbo through a custom mid-pipe, Turbosmart 38mm external wastegate and a Turbosmart Kompact b.o.v. I am running original engine management modified to accept a MAP sensor to provide positive manifold pressure fuel enrichment.

I am currently installing forged pistons along with a bit of cylinder head port work and plan to see 200hp on the dyno: )

If you are putting a turbo on an engine, there is a chance of blowing that engine up since the turbo puts extra stress and strain on the engine block. A Buell with turbo would sound amazing though. I'm just wondering Eric how many miles did you put on that engine, any problems? How much did it cost to put the turbo on the bike? Any more pics of your bike or videos on YouTube? Your bike is very interesting and the turbo setup looks a lot different from the XB12R Diablo prototype.

I have put about 5k running 8psi and about 2k running 12psi. I just pulled the top end apart to check things out and found the piston skirts had collapsed about .004" max and the chrome plated face of the top piston rings was chipping off from the additional heat. Everything internal except for gaskets and studs has been stock up until now. No damage to anything else but still enough to warrant an upgrade from stock. The tops of the pistons looked great and all of the ring lands measured out perfect. I was really pushing the limits of the stock internals running 12psi of boost. Cast pistons really hate the temperatures and pressures in a motor running higher levels of boost.

Really nice bike eric, i really havent put alot of thought into it. I suppose i just need a rough price if a setup. I will have to get someone over here to fabricate any parts needed. Mine is an 04 xb12s.

Joe,get hold of Greg Watters,he is my Aussie team mate at Bonnie and has assisted in a turbo XB set-up as well as having extensive turbo knowledge(he built the systems on our 200MPH turbo Gix 750's).He is in Numurkah. PM me for contact info.

It's great that Jim can recommend someone who is close to you that has experience with turbo's and XB's! The hardest part in fabricating up turbo components is learning what works and what doesn't! You still may not be able to slap together a masterpiece the first time but working with someone experienced makes everything much easier! I am more than happy to tell you about certain components and why I have chosen or ended up with how things are designed now. You would have to convey those ideas to whoever is putting things together for you.
