So my wife, bless her heart, decided to give me an aerostitch for my birthday. My big problem is, do I go with the single suit, or the two piece? I think about the times I am camping and such and walk around with my jacket only and wonder if the two piece would be best, and then read all the glowing reviews of the one piece and then i just don't know. Maybe I would be better off with the Darien setup? Opinions? Actual experiences? Shane |

Shane, I have never owned and type of Aerostich riding gear and I am sure you saw my thread about the Survivor suit. I like it but...... If I were to get another one (and I may) I would get the Darien two piece setup. I have been drooling over it for awhile.... (I got the joe rocket setup just to try this stuff out without spending too much) Whatever you get let us know... |

I have one of both . Okay the two piece was bought used at a great price. When the two piece jacket and pants are zipped together it is nearly as quick to get in an out of as the one piece. If I bought another one new I would go with a two piece because of the ability to wear the jacket only. |

IMHO, the two piece is the way to go ... You will be able to wear the jacket any time ... That is the set up "i" have ... |

The advantages of the one piece are what? My guess is it is warmer and maybe dryer.. Two very important things for me. I could be wrong but it is just a matter of defining your needs and usage. |

Hey Shane. I have the darien two piece. It is easier to pack. If it every gets cold in AZ I use a gerbing jacket liner and have not needed the heated pants since I have the heated seat and grips. So if it were me I would get just the outer shell and add the back protector. |

>>>The advantages of the one piece are what? I have several and . . am kinda an advocate of the 1-peice simply because it MAKES you wear the pants. And . . . as others have said . . . I can put my 1-peice on faster than the 2-peice. I've never found it uncomfortable. I've broken the jackets and pants apart in the past (no more because I bought the Hi-Viz jacket only) and it work fine. It comes down to a matter of personal preference. But the 1-peice (once broken in) is not the least bit inconvenient. |

"because it MAKES you wear the pants. " I hope that is not the only thing that makes you wear pants.. At least out in public. |

. .. actually . . . . and I've done this in the last couple weeks of hot weather . . . it does require a bit of cognitive intervention . . . . . I, prior to "de-stich" at a stop, have to consciously think "what do I have on underneath". I have a habit, from the good ol days of lots of long distance, day after day testing . . . or wearing cute little spandex bike shorts. What was "cute" on my in the days of a 28" waist would now be a source of alarm, panic and fear if I inadvertently dropped trou in even a truck stop on I-70. Caution. I confess I've been wearing the 2-peice lately, mostly to accommodate an expanded waist line with all the armor and bad protector I have in it . . .but as I dispatch a few pounds I'm eager, hopefully for next season, to be back in my famed "Astronaut" blue 1-piece. Frank . . drop me a note if you're around today, I need to call sometime. |

I wore a one piece Roadcrafter on my ride across the country and it was great. I wore a pair of gym shorts or cargo shorts and a t-shirt underneath, along with a pair of Combat Touring boots. That combo allows you to be down to a pair of shorts and birkenstocks inside a minute for longer (and hotter) stops. The one piece is a bit of a pain to walk around in with the top unzipped though. In the summer, I do still typically wear just shorts and a T underneath of the suit for comfort. I currently have a two piece Roadcrafter, jacket is high viz and gray, bottoms are gray and high viz, as well as a pair of Darien pants. I prefer the Roadcrafter two piece setup for cooler weather, and ease of getting in and out of when zipped together. I prefer the Darien pants and RC jacket for touring since the Dariens tend to be more waterproof and are not as bulky or hot as the roadcrafters. I also have a few Vanson jackets that get throw into the mix on occasion, especially a full perf leather one for when it gets really hot. The RC jacket I got like new, used, from ADVRider and both pairs of pants were from Aero's seconds department. You are able to save a pile of cash if you watch their sales lists, just takes patience! What an awesome gift, Aerostich makes great gear, and the company and Andy Goldfine are stand up folks. Court, What back protector are you using? I've, er, modified one of my Vanson back protectors for the 'stich because I wasn't real impressed with Aero's pads, but the Vanson's not working out so well in the fit department either... |

I seem to be in the minority here but I have a one piece Roadcrafter suit and love it. I definitely say the original one-piece is best for me. Why? It is easy on/easy off. When I take off my helmet I take off the suit. (Boots don't have to come off to remove the suit.) I think the two-piece suit is a compromise. The original one-piece is better for riding but, maybe the two piece is better for walking around with your jacket on and your pants off. I think it better to just pack or wear a fleece jacket or a light nylon windbreaker for wearing off the bike on (on the bike when it is cold). I am 100% satisfied with my one-piece suit but I am thinking of getting a kevlar mesh jacket/pants combination from Motoport for hot summer use. |

There is one more very good reason to buy and wear Aerostich or Motoport gear: TOP QUALITY - MADE IN THE USA |

Right now I am leaning towards the Hi-Vis Darien and the AD1 pants. I like the styling of the Darien and the combo is the most waterproof. Being in the Northwest, moisture control is a plus, although my wettest experiences have been on long trips when there is no choice but to ride on. |
