Dave, I like Fred's attitude on the show. He's after the best shot where most show's are after the trophy shot. I'm feeling pretty confident wit the bow and spent last weekend setting the stands with my brothers at my parents farm. Going to be a cold winter so I'm hoping for some early season success. Good luck to all the tree sitters hoping to fill their freezer's. NUTS |

Well, I went to put corn out for the last time before the fun starts and nothing.... Both feeders are still full. That makes picking the stand I will be in tomorrow a lot easier. 1 more sleeps.... |

It's definitely that time of year... Almost got 2 of them, 6 miles apart, on the way back from the slimey crud run this evening. Not nearly as fun as the way you guys go after them! |

Hunted opening morning on Friday and all day yesterday. Saw deer but no shots offered. Had a ball with Bernice on her first ever hunt! She didn't get to shoot anything but saw about 10 deer and 13 turkeys. I think she's hooked. I'll be out again tomorrow morning before work. |

at least you are seeing something! The last time I had to put corn in the feeder was Sept. 16Th We are have a pretty good cold snap for this time of year so maybe that will bring the back. We have a TON of mass this year. How are the acorns out your way? |

good crop of acorns and the deer are hitting them hard. Went out this morning and passed on a button buck. He was the only deer I saw. Had one snorting me but I am not sure if it was me or something else, I had the wind right but it swirled a little right before the deer started snorting so maybe it did smell me? Never saw it, the trees are still full of mostly green leaves. I'll be back out Thursday morning. |

I'm not glad to hear that but I'm glad its not just me.... If they haven't hit the feeder, I'm head'n back to the house. No since in just sitting there.... They'll get hungry for my corn and salt lick soon enough The rut should kick off in 2 or 3 weeks.. then it'll be on... I HOPE! |

We saw the first bucks of the season at our place Saturday--a decent 6 and a little 4. Maybe I'll get some pictures on my feeder camera. I don't shoot 'em, I just like to watch 'em... rt |

Well I've overhauled my muzzle loader. Got it on a trade deal. A Knight 50 cal open breech. I've fired it four times so far. I do really enjoy shooting a muzzle loader, they are the nuts! It may be my most enjoyable gun to shoot. I love the "crack.....pause.....BOOM! And the smokeless powder.....ha ha ha, with no wind you have to wait a minute or so to see what your shot did! Can't wait for Muzzle loader season to start, I'm ready now! My hunting buddy got his archery deer on his second day. He has been setting up our hunting spots for the last few weeks. Tree stands are ready. Time to get out the turdy-turdy for some target work for rifle season! Damn, if I have time I'm going fishing this weekend, although I do need to prep the bikes for Buelltoberfest. |

Hunted yesterday morning before work. Got busted, big time, by a nice big doe. Had her at 17 yards. Would've been the perfect recurve shot. Didn't make it this morning, the league shooters kept me in the shop til about 10:30 last night and I had been up since 3 am. I'm taking a 9 year old and his dad this Sunday to try and get them both on their first deer! |

no deer for me either. We have been having some record heat and they just aren't moving. or I should say they aren't moving in front of me so I can get a line of site on them... |

Wolfie-you might know this, can we in Ohio bow hunt(or even gun hunt during the extension) from a canoe? I'm getting back into going for ducks and a guy I shoot with wants to bring his bow. That's assuming we have the proper permission/access of course. Would be awesome to bag a deer from a canoe, and I haven't seen anything about it in the regs I've been looking through. |

Can't do it from a vehicle, and if they catch you, they take the vehicle. So the low lives I heard of doing it just use really crappy vehicles. Stupid. So if you don't get an answer, and do it, my advice would be to use a cheap canoe! (It sounds like a totally cool way to hunt deer also, and sounds reasonably sporting!) |

Shot a doe this morning with my recurve. Thought the hit was good, not perfect, but good. Guess not, 2 hours of looking, came and opened the shop, got a couple friends with loose work schedules to help and 3 of us went back for another 2 hours. No deer. I feel like crap. |

I hate to hear that cause I know how you feel. I spined one last year. That about made me give it up. Just got done reading up on peak rut stuff and sunset times.... cool stuff I have the dates marked and vacation days planned I'm looking forward to heading out tonight. I had to put some corn out last Wednesday, I hope they are back to stay |
