hello from afghanistan! i was just sitting here looking through the net and was thinking about getting an 88" kit for my 12r once i return. does anyone have any input or experience with this? i want more power, and the 88" kit seems like it'll fit the bill perfectly. thoughts? |

88" kits make big power, but it's not just cylinders and pistons. You'll have to get your cases bored to accept the larger pistons, you'll need head work, cams, different intake, exhaust...it gets spendy fast. If you want to spend the cash, I'd PM http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/boar d-profile.cgi?action=view_profile&profile=jake318- users He has a thread around here (I can't seem to find it) describing his build. A list of his mods are in his profile (big bore kit included) |

i'll have plenty to spend once i get back, so that's not really an issue. i'm pretty well aware of all the major stuff that'll need to be done. i was hoping to find a competent builder in the san diego area. if i can't find one, i'll gladly do it myself. the only thing i'll have trouble with is the fuel injection, mapping, etcetera. as soon as i decide what route i'll take, i will gladly keep all posted. |

What sort of rwhp numbers could you expect from a 88/90" bigbore with all the bells and whistles? Sounds like a great project! |

honestly, about 120 hp with a mountain of torque. i don't really want all the power in the upper rpm's. i love the low and midrange pull. i don't really care about top speed. all about torque baby! compliments of BUELL!! |

dhays call JTS, if they go with a B-2 or prostock head design(NOT STAGE 3 HEADS) , also plaining heads to raise compression to around 12.5:1 , big valves, racing springs adjustable pushrods, RACE INJECTORS+400CFM FUEL REGULATOR ect ect you can get 110/15 HP at the REAR WHEEL=major performance increase. You CAN get more HP than 110/115 but your looking at much more time/expence. Dhays 110/115 at the REAR WHEEL with 110 LBS or torque gives you bottom end performance on par( or a little better due to higher cornering speeds of the XB12R ) with a ZX10R or GSXR1000. The ZX10R/GSXR1000 will ave more top end of course, but realistically rarely is the top end of a bike utillized . DHAYS I know Simons compitition can do the job but being you live in San Diago call JTS performance ive heard they are a top notch , professional shop that should be able to do the job AND they are located in Sonoma CA. in your nech of the woods . feel free to call me if you have more questions ill pm my cell number Take care Jake. PS!!!! MAKE ..SURE.. jts INSTALLS A FORCED AIR OIL COOLER WITH 19ROW RADIATOR!!! SHOW THEM A PIC OF MY BIKE , ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE=EASY TO COPY ...ALSO DONT FORGET YOU NEED NEW HEADERS WITH YOUR NEW MUFFLER THE STOCK 45MM HEADERS JUST DONT DO THE JOB (Message edited by jake318 on October 01, 2010) |
