I bought my s3 years ago with a corbin already installed. It looks great, but never fit me - the indentation is way too far back for my 5'8" seating pref. and now with a passenger, it is really akward. I bought a new (stock)seat, screwed the mounting pin in, and it so loose, it won't stay on the bike! I'm playing with the latch and pin, but there doesnt seem to be enough adjustment in the world to make it actually clip like (I think) is intended. I am wondering if the prev. owner made some changes, since I have read posts about corbin fitment problems on other s3's..Any clues? Anyone with an extra seat pin? Does the latch barely catch the side of the pin normally? |

You can adjust the way the screw fits in the catch by shortening, or loosening it. I have a Corbin on my S3, and there were a few fitment issues, but I adjusted that by trimming the bumpers that were on the bottom of the Corbin. I think that you can evan move the latch around if I remember correctly. I also sort of preloaded my seat, where some downward force is needed to release the pin. Dean |

I have it fitting now, just had to bend the latch lever and return spring back to "normal" So that the release handle again functions. I knew the pin height was adjustable, just couldn't make the latch hold it in place side to side. I am anxious to try it out! Know any tallish riders who may be in the market for a leather carbon print, grey sided corbin seat? Better yet, know how I can add a passenger type backrest to the stock seat? I seem to remember an old tubular system for a travel pack that also doubled as a passenger backrest. |

Ventura makes a rack system, but it really does not work as a backrest for the passenger. You can always have the Corbin reworked to fit you. We do that kind of thing all the time. |

Buellitt, what would you take for your unwanted Corbin, and could you post a picture or 2 of it? |

The pin on my S3 seat was worn and I had to build up the edge with the Mig so it would latch reliably.Replacing it is proly in order. |

I have made backrest supports for the stock seat pan, when making a custom seat. Since you already own the Corbin, the most cost affective solution is to rework the Corbin to fit your riding position. |

As crazy as it sounds, I am enjoying the stock seat! I realize the quality is nowhere near the Corbin, but it is working for me, and would be even better if I could find a passenger support without spending big bucks. Besides, I hate the idea of tearing down a perfectly good (for someone else) costly seat for a base. Gowindward : I suppose it is necessary to start with a more sturdy than stock pan? Since the corbin back rests start at about $200, in addition to the cost of a re-worked saddle, are there any other alternatives? Brubry : I will post pics once I figgure out which way to go! |

David, I have built the interior of the stock seat pan up with fiberglass to give it additional support for backrest hardware mounting. Hard to get any of this done without spending some money or a lot of your own time. Do some searching. I posted up doing this to my S3T stock seat. |
