I made out mint tearing mine down compared to what I would have got as a whole bike sale. I'd bet your problem is a simple fix. Seen it a ton of times. Here it is: While riding it feels like someone is flipping the run/stop switch off and on. go for an hour long ride it'll do it 1/2 the time. whats been done: cleaned throttle body, injectors, checked TPS, checked butterfly, replaced plugs, replaced wires, replaced intake seals, replaced engine temp sensor, checked grounds, looked for chafed wires. Pins get loose, look like they are in but give'em a tug. Check the wires in the hand controls, they get pinched in there. How about some useful info...   Firebolteric_ma Posted on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 - 10:45 pm:        Check the screws holding it, If they are loose it will kill the bike like your feeling w/ the lumpy v-twin, the sensor needs to be grounded.
