Should we also try for a date in October so that everyone can plan it out? This Sunday can be the pre-ride. Who is going to lead? |

WHERE (ROUTE): Here's a modified version with route 676 included *nods to Loud_and_Low*. I also changed the route where it went down a county road (which usually equates to a gravel road, so let's avoid that) and returned us to our original starting point. Bumps the ride 30 minutes to 5 1/2 hours + stops -- Google time, not bike time. New Map Here This makes the ride about 2.5 hours (100 miles) to Marietta for gas/lunch, then another 2.5 hours (105 miles) to Lancaster for more gas, then finally 30 min (23 miles) back to our starting point in Pickerington. I think this will be a really nice ride with the season change. 555 is a blast and the ride through the forest should hold some great views. The first 30 miles or so to Somerset isn't going to be anything spectacular, but we've got to get out of the "Columbus flats" somehow. And of course that last 30 miles or so starting around Lancaster, the same thing. LEAD: I'll offer to lead unless someone else speaks up. I've ridden a little over 1/2 of these roads before so I'm not going to pre-ride it myself -- part of the fun is the adventure of new roads anyway! I *may* be riding 2-up with the wife, but she doesn't mind cutting the curves at a brisk pace, so we shouldn't slow the faster ones down by much. But if someone else really wants to lead, go for it - won't bother me at all. WHEN: Let's start the bidding for Sunday, Sep 26. I could do either Saturday or Sunday myself. I think the preference may be Sunday, but whichever day more people can make it out. If that doesn't work for the majority, then we can look into October. As for a time, if we give ourselves 6 1/2 hours with lunch and gas stops, I'd suggest kickstands up at 10am, giving us a return time around 4:30pm. It will likely be brisk to start the ride with but averages are still in the mid-70's. Thoughts? |

I vote for mid to late October when the leaves are changing. That and I am still in a sling from a broken collar bone. |

I am down for this Sunday as well as an October ride. I have a friend in Cleveland(1125cr) who also wants to ride this Sunday. Either early ride, home mid afternoon, or Afternoon ride, home late evening, works best for him. So whatever we can work out. We can meet you southern and central ahia fellas somewhere outside of Columbus. Lets work something out. |

I rode the first half of 555, some of 78, and North back up 13 on Sunday. Only saw 2 bikes on 555. For a newer rider 555 was intense. Is the lower part of 555 as much fun as the upper half? Might try it again next weekend... |

The lower part of 555 is less intense but does make a good part of a nice loop. I am into a ride on 555 next Sunday. Weather permitting of course. I ll keep it open in case a ride materializes. |

Sorry I haven't gotten back to this any sooner -- work had me buried these past couple weeks. Looking through the posts I only see a couple people responding to riding this Sunday. And it looks like I can't make it myself anyway. So since there was some talk about mid-October instead, what do people think about Sunday, October 10? It will probably be a little cooler, but averages are still just about 70', so that's pretty nice. We may want to consider a slightly shorter route as well, maybe zipping down 40 to Zanesville to jump on to 555. I'll take another look at the route and see. Of course, if there are a number of you planning on this Sunday who just didn't post back, please don't let me stop you - just ride! Thoughts? |

Ditto on the Pony for tires. Reasonable prices, lots of stock and quick change. Take your wheels off yourself and save some bucks. |

I can do either Sunday, October 10 or possibly Sunday, October 24. I'd much prefer October 10 myself -- I'm pretty warm-blooded. LOL Here's a shorter route that I'm thinking about, at 3.75 hrs: http://trunc.it/bbzsm Or maybe this one at 4.5 hrs with more miles on 555: http://trunc.it/bayyi |

That is the day of the Devil's Staircase Hillclimb.I ve promised my son for almost 2 months we were going. So sorry fella's. I m out of that ride. As much as I would love to go to Buelltoberfest it's not happening ...so...I would be into a 555 and vicinity ride the 17th or24th with you guys. |

If Iron Pony has the tire you want in stock, they can't be beat. But if they have to order it, Motorcyclesuperstore.com will blow them out of the water. Iron Pony was $50 per tire higher on the ones I wanted them to order. Of course then you have to find someone to mount them. |

New Member Everyone please welcome our 55th COBRA member -- Josh Herald! Josh just bought a 2007 XB9Sx CityX from a local Bueller (a non-member it seems). It's his first bike and he's looking forward to going on some group rides. Welcome Josh! |
