It's time for me to put my race pipe on. For those that have done it, do you have to rotate the engine? Do you have to remove anything else? Any suggestions/tips? Thank you, Doug |

The full system? Yes, I've done it, it's not real friendly. Basic: Rotate the motor. Support the entire motor from the bottom. Support the front of the frame. Remove the rear frame mounts. Have friend lift rear of frame up to give room to install rear header. |

Doug - You can get the rear header off without rotation, but you gotta rotate motor to get new rear header on - that's the main snag in the process. Also, may need to modify front O2 sensor lead or get another rear O2 sensor (and yes, there are two different part numbers for front and rear to reflect the different lead lengths). |

I've heard that you can get the rear on by just rotating...but for the life of me I couldn't get it to fit. It was far easier and less frustrating to just pull the frame up in the rear to slide it on. And really was simple and quick, wish I would have just done that right from the start. |

I've heard dropping the swing arm works, too, but I've never done it. |

I supported the engine and lifted the frame up, that worked good for me. I also just made a jumper to extend the O2 sensor wire, had the correct connector bodies and terminals at my shop. Take it slow and good luck. If you ride it on the street and decide its a little too loud PM me and I'll shoot you some pictures and part # of the baffle I installed in mine to quiet it down some. Nice thing is with one bolt the baffle slips out and it roars again! |

You guys this looks like good information here. I'll plan to lift the frame but I will keep an eye on the swing arm. At least the swing arm would be fast to take off. I just put it on a couple of weeks ago. Thanks a lot and I will post up what happens. |

Doug - I may have both rotated and lifted in retrospect. I had supported the subframe from the rafters when I rotated the motor. Supporting motor on the jack unweighed the straps, so I tightened them and pulled the frame up, thus dropping the swingarm (made it super easy to get the shock off). There may be a way to thread the header in from the rear - not sure. If you come in from the side, though, I think you will have to rotate the motor - - there is a machined casting on the rear cylinder, right side, back (photo) that defeated all my efforts to get that rear header on. I could get the stock one out, but the EB is bigger and just wouldn't play well with the chinese puzzle.

Thanks Stirz, that helps. Chevy, I don't use the O2 sensors. My bikes a racer and doesn't need them. |
