I got a set off fleabay and i just wanted to see what they would look like on an X1 or any tuber.......I want to see a real set of clip ons not the cross roads bars. They are to flimsy for me and i don't like them. Also no clubman bars. Thanks in advance guys\gals. |

Interesting pics guys! Well i wasn't thinking about the fact that i had to move the forks a little to get them on the bike. But i have been wanting these for a long time and finally a pair popped up that i thought i could justify spending the money because they are so dam much! Spidey how did you install yours?..... did you hang the bike, What is easier? dennis- did lowering the front like you did make the bike handle any different?? Thanks for the pics guys. |

I don't know if you have actually looked at the crossroads bars but there is nothing flimsy about them, not that it matters since you bought the actual clip ons. I tried the clip ons, and I thought they were too low under the top triple tree, I sold them and got the crosroads. |

No, just put her up on the rear stand, and took the weight off the front. Removed the top clamp and installed. |

I bought the bike this what and have since put it back to stock. But while it was in this configuration I tried the bars above and below the top clamp, either way it handles a little different alot because of the riding position, also if you lower the clamps you effectively lower the front of the bike. You'll also have to look at how your going to mount the gauges, you don't have to change it but it looks a little odd with the stock mount and clipons. |

I have tried the crossroads and they flex and feel flimsy and i don't like that. I have clubmans on right now and they have no knurling on the bars where they mount and if i hit bumps really hard the bars will actually slip\rotate. I like the lower aggressive posture\position of the lower bars because at higher speeds i feel like my weight is more on the back than over the engine and helping to keep the bike stable. |

I had clip ons when I got my S1 but it had a full GP body then. It was way to low for any comfort. I thought that the crossroads were a good compromise until I could afford a custom top tree. I never noticed any weird handling issues with them but to each his own |

Well i put on the clip-ons and they make the bike handle so much better........But they are so uncomfortable they are coming off as soon as i can find something better. Eshardball your right on the comfort aspect-terrible, Used for racing they are sweet! I was thinking of maybe just some straight bars in the stock position, But i am not sure what i am going to do. |

But they are so uncomfortable Why did you want clipons? The look? Why not go back to regular bent tube bars? |

i myself have been considering a change from the stock (and slightly bent) bars. I like the crossroads but w/ my budget right now i've been considering clubmans. Other than the issue with the non-knurled slip, are than any other reasons to avoid these style bars? thanks |

Preybird, I'm not sure what you felt flex with the Crossroads bars. The plate is solidly mounted to the top tree and the bars are notched and bolted into the plate. There is nothing there to flex that I can think off |

Well it could have been just me and it was not my bike so i may be wrong on the flex but that was what i noticed right away. I may have to just go with the cross roads bars, I do like them. they are almost what i was looking for. But i just wanted better handling and i liked the low look. But these are ridiculous and are not what i was hoping for. I am trying to get this bike ready for some track days next year and possible get a race license so i can race in the amateur class. I still need a 1 piece race suit, gauntlet gloves and boots. All the motor work and suspension work and brakes and custom tuning of the suspension and Ecm mapping this bike is ready to race, I just need to figure out the bars to complete it. |

If you want low, head to a dirtbike shop. They should just have a ton of bars on a wall. I did that with a buddy for his X1. We ended up finding a low bar with a nice back bend in it. Similar to the superbike bars they sold for the XB-R not to long ago... |

as far as I remember the headlight is from a vrod, and the speedo is form motogadget. I think there's a custom plate for the headlight somewhere under the speedo. |

I think it's a CrossRoad Performance part. Like this one: http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/A9074.html but I could not find it on American Sport Bike! I have to ask, maybe it's custom made. |

I have found the base plate on my Crossroads bars to be a bit flexy, especially at the drill point for the fork adjusters. I have a piece of aircraft aluminum I was going to have a new, stiffer base plate made out of, one of these days... Love that black X1 Palmer. Risers like Blake's got pictured there seem like such a great idea. I'm surprised they are not easier to learn about, never heard of them before in my 10 years of Buell ownership. |

Here's my home made bars I copied off some damaged crossroad bars I got off a mate. They have a 7 degree bend and are awesome to ride with.

I have the clip-ons on my S1 and I like the look of them a lot, but honestly, my X1 with the crossbar handlebar handles much better! here's a picture of what it looks like: top Billet to Race, bottom custom made... as you can see from this last picture, the bars are not really dropped down, so it maintains a fair upright position afterward... |
