I missed my 2006 XB12Scg after I traded it in last year for an 1125CR during the fire sale. Found a local trader who wanted a CR ... so we swapped titles today .... got me a brand new 200 mile 2009 XB12Scg ....  | ||

Just awesome!  I know a few air head riders who went wet and decided the XB'S were the ticket! It is my hope that if Eirk gets back into the manufacturing processes that he can find his way to present an air head double thumper. I sure like mine. | ||

Interesting. I have never ridden a CR, but I sat on one with the high bars and it felt like the same ergos as my XB, so I assumed it would be just like riding my XB but with more power. Could you elaborate as to why you like the XB better? I never made the switch, but had thought about it, so make me feel glad I didn't!  | ||

I've molested it since the picture was taken. No more reflectors or safety stickers. Belt guards are off. passenger pegs are off. Mirrors are off to be replaced with bar ends. I have a set of ASV levers from my CR .. the brake is the same lever ... but I need cable clutch lever. I emailed ASV to see if they would just sell me the upper part of the clutch lever for an XB. | ||

You know it was so odd after I test road the cr1125 just before the fire sale. I felt that I still had not fallen out of love with my XB. But there was this mad rush to buy up the 1125 especially when the discounts came. I was caught up but I knew I would have to make a case to convince my wife that 2 street bikes were necessary- but I just couldn't do it, not now with all life's priorities, but maybe some day. Just saying I understand the soul- the pulse that helps to make me keep my sanity. Go air heads! | ||

Back when I was introduced to Buell, there were no XBs. I had seen two, an S2 and S1W. The S1W was built for me I'm sure, even though the owner didn't think so. The S2 was my brother-in-law's and he let me ride it while I was in town. I was pretty much sold, so I started looking. Not being able to find an S1W, 2002 rolled around and out came the XB9R. WOW! As soon as I had the money up for it the XB9S came out. This would be mine! After I bought the 9 the 12s came out. Took one out for a test ride, but not long enough to make a decision. March Badness gave me the opportunity to ride the 12 the way I wanted. I liked the 9 best. When the 1125R came out, I had to ride one. The same with the CR. Neither of them could take the place of my 9. I'd own either to be sure, but neither could replace my 9. There's just something about it. Soul? Maybe, all I know is it's a bike that fits me perfectly. Congrats Dan. Great find! Bring it on over to BuellToberFest to help break 'er in. You do know about BuellToberFest don't you. It's damn near in your back yard! | ||

Good to see Buelltoberfest is still going on ... since I assume March Badness is gone. I'll try to take a ride up there that weekend ... thanks ... I've owned a Buell for 4 years now ... and never made either meet ... was always work or weather interfering . I guess in the long run it worked out ... Pretty sure you could not buy new XB12's for the price of a CR last October ... so in a round about way I was able to .. plus I got a free CR rental for the last year while I was waiting on my new XB12. :-) I'm not up on the DDFI-3 and how it works with ECMSPY now ... I had my 2006 with a K&N and D&D pipes purring like a kitten with ECMSPY before I got rid of it ... (Message edited by dmhines on September 19, 2010) | ||

Could you elaborate as to why you like the XB better? I never made the switch, but had thought about it, so make me feel glad I didn't! Speaking only for myself, I feel like I can thrash the XB on the street without being too stupidly irresponsible. My test ride on the CR convinced me that it just had way more power than I need for my normal riding. The capabilities of the CR would simply either be wasted, or get me way deep in trouble. Add the additional complexities and to me it's a no-brainer. That's not to say that I wasn't seriously tempted this fall when there were some available at $5,999. I still hate the pods! | ||

The XB provides a much more connected, visceral experience compared to the 1125. I simply NEVER felt as in tune with the 1125 motor as I do the XB. It isn't about the chassis. It's completely about the motor. The XB motor is also easier to ride in the fat part of its performance envelope on the street. The 1125 is a much better track bike. The XB is a much better street bike. I have no interest in the 1190. I'm waiting for the new middleweight Buell. I want an 800cc triple. | ||

I only had two issues with the CR that I didn't learn about until after owning one. 1) It it is HOT ... Very HOT ... Hot enough that it becomes almost unbearable on your right foot .. even with riding boots. I understand that it pretty much impossible to strap 146HP of engine between your legs and have it not run hot. But the right foot thing is crazy. 2) The inevitable Stator failure. The stator housing is poorly designed ... there is not enough oil flow to keep it cool. I doubt HD will ever produce a REAL fix for the problem (i.e. new housing). Those are two REAL issues ... Personally .. I prefer the lower center of gravity on the Scg models. It feels like you have more control in the corners. The first Buell I had was an Scg ... after moving to the CR the center of gravity being higher is definitly a characteristic I did not care for. The CR is really a great bike ... and it is incredibly faster than the XB platform. But I don't need the speed ... and never even revved it past 8K RPM for the 1800 miles I rode it. The XB's really have the HD V-Twin "soul" and that is what attracted me to the bike in the first place. I wanted some thing "different' ... The 1125 platform was an attempt to be more like the other guys ... and that became less appealing to me the longer I owned it. But #1 issue was Stator failures and the gut feeling HD will never do anything about it. | ||

Good reasons, and most are the same as mine. Don't like the pods (I do like the full fairings), air cooled simplicity, too much SPEED, and that stator thing. I also wished for a Lightning tail, but after seeing some with the mod, the pods seem to stand out more. Now that I have a Gixxer, I can appreciate my XB more and have no need for a faster everyday bike, the XB is plenty fast enough when I need it to be fast, and I don't need to go triple digits, but 60 to 80 as quick as possible. | ||

Traded my XB12 in for a CR almost 2 years ago and regretted it after a few months . CR has the power but the XB was so reliable with almost no maintenance . | ||
