I bought a 2003 XB9S Saturday. I read the owners manual yesterday and it says I'm supposed to receive a "permanant owners id card.......when the completed warranry registration is received at BMC". I don't recall filling out a "warranry registration." Is this something the dealer does or was it forgotten? Dealer is closed Mondays so I can't call them today. |

The dealer fills out a SWR (your warranty info) on that is your one year warranty an BRAG membership. Your warranty is currently in effect and you receive your card in about two weeks. |

Not...based on experience to follow up if you don't see some communication within 2 weeks. Ahhhh.....yes, there was a dealer once who was playing games by registering warranties for bikes NOT sold in an effort to pump the allocation for the next year. Later, about a year later, a couple customers bought S-1 (ostensibly new) only to find out the warranty had expired 2 years earlier. I haven't seen ALL the tricks, but I've seen folks throw lots of marbles in the path of Buell's success. Then then black 1999 X-1 engine cases.....gads, don't get me started. Just mark 2 weeks on the calender and if you've not seen anything else, give your dealer a follow up call. Court |

Thanks guys. I'll call them tomorrow anyway cause I'll probaly forget in two weeks... Another question....in an envelope with my copies of everything I signed off on was an 5 page yellow form titled "Dealer New Vehicle Quality Survey." This looks like something the dealer is supposed to fill out when putting the bike together. Actually now that I look at it closely it reads "Please review and complete all sections of this form while performing the motorcycle setup." Is this anything to be concerned with? Thanks again for your previous replies. |

Oh yeah....So far so good! Much better than my 750 Monster was. I put 125 miles on it the first night! My goal is to get back to the dealer for the 1,000 service within 2 weeks! If the weather stays nice it'll be easy. |

Take it the dealer, ask who set up the bike. I'd go through the thing step-by-step with him (have him get out his PDI checklist as you do this) complete the form and get it back to Buell. Court (Who broke in an 883 Sportster "overnight" with a leisurely ride from Topeka, KS to St. Louis, MO to have dinner with Rich Terrlink. Road back the next day, left STL early, took some photos of the bike with a group of bi-planes filming something at the Washington County airport. Snapped some photos at the state capital and delivered the bike back to Topeka HD for Dave Chall to have set up by Monday for one of the first of the Sport Twins races. Topeka never tried to fool me again with that "it has to be broken in before we can do the engine work" line again.
