Night, there were plenty of dealers that loved Buell already and made money on them. Any smart business man will put on their show room any product they believe in. remember Buell won the DSK championship. that made believers of many, thanks Danny and RMR |

It takes more than 1 bike model to make a dealer even want to stock them. Right now they will have to prove the bike is reliable enough to put into production and also show investors that the faults of the 1125 won't pop up in the 1190. Also remember the 1190 is only going to capture a small segment of the buying public. Still the vast majority of sport bike riders prefer and buy the jap bikes. How many 1190's can they expect to sell ? Wait till the new 2011 and 2012 jap 1000's come out and they will even blow away the BMW 1000. |

Night sounds like you own yourself some japp bikes. there is a market for every brand. real Buell guys will only buy American Buell. BMW guys will buy BMW because of the image and hat they like in BMW. Japp bikes will always have the people that make under 25k a year. their budget is limited. |

I own all types, I buy a bike due to its performance , quality and purpose. For me I would never buy a bmw due to there high maintenance costs and high cost of parts. I currently own a 2008 busa, 2010 xb12r, 07 gsxr1000 and 1200 sportster. I considered buying an 1125 when they were selling them for $5500 last october, but passed up on it due to all their problems. I purchased the 2010 xb12r from a guy who lost his job for what he paid for it for $6500 with only 200 miles on it. I sold my old tuber this spring. |

Night, you are too funny. My neighbor has 2 BMWs and a Buell Uly. He was telling me he is going to get another BMW,lol Why you ask, because he can, he is a BMW guy, like I am Buell guy,lol If you can't afford a BMW don't be mad and trash talk it. They are great bikes to their owners. |

I buy a bike due to its performance , quality and purpose If this is a true statement you would have bought a BMW S1000RR by now. It is hands-down the highest performance sportbike on the market and has the highest cost-to-performance ratio at $13,800 for a base model. |

Please don't take this the wrong way, but: you bought a XB12R for a grand MORE than what you could have bought a new 1125R for and you buy "due to its performance , quality and purpose"?? 1) The 1125R trounces the XB12R in any performance measure. 2) In terms of quality, the 1125R has a rotax engine vs a harley lump. 3) Both have the same purpose - the 1125 just 'does it' better. I had a XB12R too and loved it, but it doesn't compare to the 1125. I think you made the wrong decision friend. |

Once you have busa or a gxr1000 nothing else equals them. Sure the bmw will beat the 07 gxsr1000 and probably equal the busa. But nobody really cares if your bike does 184mph instead of 187mph or if your .5sec quicker in a 1/4 mile. Since the advent of the first gsxr1000 in 2001 that older model is even faster than anyone can really safely ride on the street or strip. So having the lastest and greatest model is really meaningless. It only comes into play when you are shopping for a new bike for a valid reason or competively racing. I stopped changing vehicles every couple years 20 yrs. ago. I usually keep bikes for 10 yrs. or 20k miles and cars and trucks I drive them into the ground. Its crazy to spend change bikes just for a .5sec and 5mph more top end. Its going to cost you on average $1200 in sales tax and $3-$4k loss on your old model. So it really makes no sense to trade up every few years. Bragging rights are for posers and street dorks. If you happy with your current machine just ride it. I agree with most everything you just said - my point was you missed the bus when choosing an XB12R over an 1125R for a grand less - especially in light of your 'performance, quality and purpose' statement. PS. I too have owned a 1st gen Gixxer thou and guess what? A piped, fuel adjusted 1125R is pretty much dead even in a straight line. No shit. |

I test drove the 1125 did nothing for me. styling was also to weird. The only reason I bought the xb12r was that I wanted a new replacement for my old tuber. The 1125 was just to slow when compared to the gsxr1000. I test drove the 1125 and tried to keep up with my brother on a 08 cbr1000 and the cbr would smoke the 1125 in all ways. The 1125 isn't bad if your used to a 600cc sport bike, but once you drive and own one of the latest 1000 sport bikes, nothing else compares to them. |

I hate to keep this going... BUT... I feel I must because I've also done direct comparo's against the newest CBR thou's as well. I rode the big CBR myself and I did acceleration tests directly against it while on my 1125R. First off; the styling is completely subjective so I'll let that one go but I have to call bullshit when you say the CBR will 'smoke the 1125 in all ways'. Case in point; 3rd gear roll-ons from about 60mph to 100mph. My 1125 STOMPED the CBR.. granted the CBR came past pretty quick around 125mpm but thats besides the point. The 1125 smoked the CBR in most equal gear roll-on situations. Lastly, I must admit when I first rode my 1125R I too felt it was comparable to a modern 600 - but after breaking it in, adding a pipe and tweaking the fueling it was clearly evident to far out class any 600 in terms of sheer power. If you really want a fair appraisal, ride a 1125 with an E-B-R ecm and a decent pipe, the twistier the road the better. I think you'll have a different opinion then. |

You can only do a little of a comparison in a 10 mile test ride, on an expressway and redlight to redlight testing, etc. Also I test rode the 1125 about a 1 yr before the price dropped to $5500. So I wasn't going to spend $11-$12k on a slower bike than I already owned. |

I don't get the negativity. Everything is just speculation. He (Erik Buell Racing) needs to sell some bikes (nobody really KNOWS how many) to continue his racing efforts and drum up possible sponsorship. Can he do it? He's doing it already with the race bikes. He makes them a little more streetable and sells them. Nodody said he needs a dealer network, yet.. They could just send a tech to you. A network of techs to choose from. Authorise various certified mechanics to do the work. or..no warranty. There are many cars I see that I've never seen a dealer for. Where do you take your Mclaren? Or your new Shelby series one? Obviously it can be done. |

Also forgot mention, roll on testing is very subjective and not really a fair comparison as the 2 bikes have very different power curves and engine design. You really need to compare them in the 1/4 mile times and 0-150mph stats etc., while pushing each bike to redline in every gear and then judge the results. Roll ons don't really mean much, down shift or upshift either bike and you will get different results. |

The internet is the new supply chain. Servicing can be done anywhere, sorry HD guys but that is the truth. I had a mechanic with 12 years of experience working on Ducati's solicit me for work as he was putting a titanium exhaust on an R6. You could lift those headers up with a broken baby finger! |

Horsepower means diddly-squat to most Buell riders (otherwise we'd all be riding BMW S1000RRs). I bought the 1125R because it DIDN'T have that stupid Harley lump in it but it still handled and felt like a BUELL. In other words, the bike was "invisible" and I was the one sailing over the road in complete control; I could feel EVERYTHING either tire was doing at all times. I wasn't holding handlebars, I had the front wheel axle between my hands. And I could "feel" exactly what the back tire was doing. NO other bike I've ever ridden gives those kinds of sensations. And the fact that it looks COMPLETELY different from any other bike on the road is a bonus. |

By the way, roll-ons are the best REAL WORLD comparison between two bikes. In traffic, the bike you can just roll on to get around obstructions is far better than the bike you have to bang down a couple of gears to do the same. NOTHING "subjective" about it. Two bikes, side-by-side, same speed, same gear. Where is the subjectivity in that?? |

Jaimie that was well put. I have had literally hundreds of motorcycles in my life some fast some slow the whole gambit . I have loved 3 motorcycles in all those years 1.) 1978 1/2 Suzuki rm 250 2.) 2006 Buell XB12SS 3.) 2009 Buell 1125CR in no order just loved those bikes why you ask? JaimieC just answered that question in the above post. ZEN baby just ZEN grasshopper |

I agree with Brumbear above, you should buy a motorcycle that makes you feel like a million bucks when you ride it. I drove many bikes in my life, Hayabusa, GSXR750, CBR1000, Victory Vegas, V-Rod but none of them are as much fun as the XB9R that I have now. I'm turning miles into smiles every day I'm on that thing. And speed on public roads is irrelevant, you can loose your licence very quickly, and on the track I was passing everybody during track days with people on R1s and GSXRs with twice the horsepower. Now, if I could get my hands on an R6 before getting married would be awesome. |

You gotta laugh at the internet, it's where you'll find punks and do-nothings criticizing the doers, folks who have accomplished more in one year than the miserable nay-saying critics will in their entire lives. Nay-saying critics need to go vomit their miserableness onto someone else's Buell forum. I am sick and tired of it. |

>>> once you drive and own one of the latest 1000 sport bikes, nothing else compares to them. This topic is about the Buell 1190RS, street brother to the Buell 1190RR, which according to Geoff May, former Jordan Suzuki GSXR1000 race bike rider, is "the fastest bike I've ever ridden." Seems like a bike that might attract those looking for a fast semi-exotic superbike repli-racer. |

Regarding the performance comparison of the 1190RS to anything else - if it is a slightly detuned 1190RR, then it will indeed be one tremendously quick bike. The 1190RR laps only hundreds of a second off of the Pegram Ducati 1098R which has the full Corse kit on it, not to mention consistently beating the two BMW S1000RR race bikes in the AMA Superbike race this year. So it stands to reason that the 1190RS would be comparable to a stock 1098R, which has an MSRP of $39,995. Who knows, maybe they are even running some type of traction control and that might be included as well. If you are the type of well-heeled buyer that likes having something that others don't, a rare 1190RS that matches a 1098R in performance could be a desirable proposition as you are very likely not to see yourself coming the other way. Jay Leno would certainly buy one... |
