All: I have been looking at aftermarket air filter replacement setups for the carbureted M2, and none of them really appeals to me for reasons of aesthetics and actual performance increase over the standard breadbox with the K&N filter element. However, a contributor to this BBS has installed a teardrop shaped S&S carburetor filter box on his bike. I don't remember who it was, or whether he also replaced the carb on the bike as well. I am interested in the S&S filter box, but don't know a whole lot about it. Will it bolt up to the 40mm Keihin? (I doubt it). If not, is it a major undertaking to modify one to fit? If not, does the installation of the S&S carburetor improve performance in any way, and where do I find these parts? Thanks to those who respond. Stubb |

Stubb S&S makes a filter that bolts up to your stock carb. PN 17-0105. You will have to rejet the stock carb to take full advantage of the increased air flow. It is a simple bolt on kit. The S&S carb kit 11-0448 is a good running, easy to tune carb. Any S&S dealer (most HD shops) would be able to order this kits for you and also give you pricing. Jeff |

Stubb: Here's one on an S2 with a Keihin. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/3842/19456.jpg I bought the S&S filter off ebay, it's an old, unplated aluminum one, don't know which model. I had to open up the backing plate with a file and a Dremel to get it to match the mouth of the Keihin. Also had to re-drill the mounting holes, then blend the inlet. I pointed it down to give me a little extra knee room. Works great, and only cost $10! r-t |

Would that carb kit be an improvement in performance over the 40mm Keihin? Thanks. Stubb. |
