A little over a month to go.....GOD I need to get up to the mountains and do some riding. Any of you folks play an instrument? Would be cool to do a little pickin' and grinning while drinking and telling lies. I'd be happy to haul my bass up for some jamming. |

Char, I'll be riding down from Kernersville (right between Greensboro and Winston) Thursday afternoon. Not sure how that lines up with your plans, but we can certainly ride down together. Alex |

I play drums. But there ain't know way I am packing them things... Take up WAY too much space... LOL Let the drummer jokes begin: • Why are drummers always losing their watches? Everyone knows they have trouble keeping time. * How many drummers does it take to change a light bulb? None. They have machines to do that now. |

I'm going to have to scramble to get bike luggage sorted out, but I'm in. Now the real question is, do I go a bit out of my way to slay the dragon on the way? |

Will TWO be serving breakfast that weekend or just lunch and dinner? |

Nik- the Dragon is fun, but overrated and overrun with idiots and the po-po until winter- I really only enjoy the Gap after winter sets in. If you've never been, by all means, go. Just go EARLY or LATE in the day- early, after the sun has evaporated the dew, or late, after all the meats have gone home. Keep towards the right side of your lane, NOT the middle. Easy, just set your lines to accomodate. Sometimes a semi will come through. JUST BE CAREFUL. Ever done the Cherohala? Also good, but still risky for the same reasons as the Gap- add in higher risk for higher speeds. Truth be told, there are a whole lotta good roads nobody really knows about, to and from Suches- plan to check THEM out. |

Will TWO be serving breakfast that weekend or just lunch and dinner? I saw GT this weekend but didn't ask about breakfast. As soon as I get the new tires put on the bike, I'll head over and ask.

Check this out... I got a book I am looking at called the Ride Guide Appalachian Edition... I second the dragon comments... I was there a while ago and I ran it twice before 9 AM on Monday morning... by 9 it was crawling with squids and I found a lot of great roads in the area that I felt much safer on... |

I'll take care of it for ya Charlie, if it's one thing I've got is time... Just give me a ring, and I'll come pick it up. With any luck at all I'll be sporting some new rubber Thursday. Anyone want to ride Friday, Saturday, or Sunday? |

Im a strong maybe. I can get the time off of work but I still need to find funds. Ive already taken two extravagant motorcycle trips this year. Those two trips alone I put nearly 5000 miles on my 09 1125R. That makes me smile just typing that. If I can do it on the cheap I can probabally pull BTF off again this year. My wife is also a little concerned after my lowside on my 9 last year. |

Tim there is always a cloverleaf you can hit indefinitely... although that can feel like nascar after a while! lol, yes i could and have. last summer i did that a few days in a row after work. saw a state trooper all 3 times. the last time he seemed to slow down and notice that i was just turning and turning and turning but not leaving the interchange... i decided i shouldnt be doing that for awhile! Are y'all coming down, or what? You and the better half need a vacation. i truly dont know. even if i can do it, i doubt she will. she's still not extremely confident with all the curves, and i have no idea what we would do with her son for the good 5 days it would take us to make the trip and still be able to keep him in school. then there is still the whole they took all my vacation away after 5+ years of working here problem. and as far as that intersection goes, DAMN is that real? it looks all kinds of out of whack. and a couple wobbles and bends that look like they are there for no reason what so ever. |

So who all is doing/leading rides? I know it's usually unscripted but maybe a "Buelltoberfest Rides" thread would be a good way for people to organize their rides. Just a thought. |

Also Ashley has a new DSLR camera that she's been playing with. She wants to get some action shots up there so... we might slip ahead of some of the rides and get some shots as people ride by. She did a really good job at the last track day. (Message edited by Not_Purple_S2 on September 15, 2010) |
