I was ridding thru okc mid day traffic and I noticed a little tricked out moped desperately trying to catch me; we meet at a stoplight and he leans over and warns" hey man, watch those hard shifts, your belt will break!" I said really , as the light changed i stood it up on its end and rode it thru to the next light, was this guy for real? |

It's not hard shifts, but rather backloading. The earlier XB belts were prone to failure from mishandling / installation (twisting the belt). Also, reverse loads generated upon coming back down from a wheelie and other hooliganism is hard on them. |

I think is more "luck of the draw" with the older belts. I have over 27K on my original 04 XB belt with multiple trackdays on it and hundreds of wheelies. Others have not had 1/4 of the miles or abuse mine has taken and have had belts snap. |

Did the guy on the moped look like this?
If so, I'd just keep on riding! Seriously though, the guy obviously doesn't know what he is talking about. I haven't had a bit of trouble with my belt since I switched to the new "all steel" model.
