Hey, Just rode to Montrose (66 miles away) and right after I filled up with gas, my bike wouldn't start. At first I thought I had accidentally hit the kill switch. No such luck. I would not start at all. When I turn the key the dials sweep and the injector makes it's sound then I hit the button and nothing. It doesn't turn over doesn't make a sound until I let off of the button then I can hear the starter "click". I checked all of my fuses and they seem to be in good order. I only have 8400 miles on the bike (03' xb9s) and I can't figure out why this would happen. Hasn't been really hot, no wiring changes, nothing. Anybody have an idea. I would love to fix this myself, my closest dealer is 2 hrs away. Thanks, Morgan PS, I got home by bump starting it. Didn't know that was going to work, but it did. |

I'd look for a wiring short. Raining up your way today, right? Water could have got into something important. |

A little rain but definitely not as much as I have ridden through. I will check that for sure. If every thing under the seat is fine, then where? Thanks. Morgan

Well she started right up this morning which leads me to believe that it was moisture. The wierd thing is that I have ridden in some hideous weather before and never had a problem. I will be doing some serious investigating and waterproofing to make sure it doesn't happen again, I don't stop riding if it is raining. If anybody has any info, about this type of problem I would be very appreciative to hear it. Thanks. Morgan |

Shazam, Wasn't me, I did ride on Saturday (I ride some almost everyday) but it was over here. I would like to get to Estes on the bike sometime though. I used to live in Ft. Collins so I know those roads well. Anyway, gotta run. My lumber yard screwed up and now I have the day off to ride. Bummer?! Where do you live Shazam? We should get together sometime. Darthane, I know, I will check that too. Usually though the Kickstand switch won't keep it from starting as long as you have the clutch in. later, Morgan |

Yeah, I know, but you didn't say whether you had it in or not. Water inside the right side controls? |

LOL...no, although I've felt the need a little more lately because I finally got some bar-end mirrors. Up until now it's been academic, I couldn't have used them even if I had them. Now I've got the bar-ends and I want them! Course, I still need the black plastic to complete the look, but damn will it be sweet when it's done. Blake, I apologize profusely for being off-topic. Buy a voltmeter. There, better? LOL Bryan |

When you changed your bars, did you assemble the right side correctly? Were they tight enough? Ya may wanna check that and water proof it while yer at it... |

Thanks for the info guys. I rode another 300 or so miles over the last two days through some more rain (very light) and didn't have any problems. I did reassemble the controls correctly (actually didn't have to take the right side totally apart, just loosen) but I will be water proofing that right away. Shazam, let me know when you are coming, I would love to ride with another Bueller. We are few and far between on the west side of this state. Did just ride with John Blackfeather and Don Castle last week. Had a great time in Ouray. Anyway, I will keep you all posted if anything else happens. Morgan PS, Getting my new camera soon will post pics of bars. I absolutely love them. |

Morgan: I've ridden through some real heavy rain in the XB without trouble, I even wash it at the car wash with a high pressure hose. Only thing I've noticed is water getting in the trunk rusting my tools (they now reside in a ziplock bag). I hope your problem is isolated, solved quickly, and self inflicted (so I won't have to worry 'bout mine) |
