Hey, guys, Here is the northern edge of our range: Turnagain Arm, Alaska. Cooler than last weeks ride. Sun, 55 degrees, pod of Beluga Whales in the Arm out behind us. The two firesale bikes, both new 08 1125r's with lowers (one set not installed yet). BTW, we don't know the lady about to throw the kiddo over the rail!

HA HA Larry, Nice shot with the kid! LOL those bikes look nice, I think the lowers really improve the look of the R's. So big difference between those and the one you have down here? Could it be the one down here needs a better tune? It has an after market pipe doesn't it? If it has the stock ECM, that would explain alot... Rex, Do you keep the CR on a trickle charger? As little as you're around to ride the bikes, it might be a good idea. I keep a trickle charger on each of my bikes unless I'm riding it daily. |

Beautiful pic Larry. It was good talking to you too. I regret that the Oct trip coincides with WTI, an international training event held here at MCAS Yuma. I'm going to be one busy bugger. If I can swing it. I'll surely be there!! On another note, I liked what TBS did to my body so I picked a mountain and hiked to it this am. 12.7 miles and 1100 feet according to my Garmin wearing a 20 lb vest and 20 lb pack. My body felt like it coulda kept going but my knee hates me. Feel pretty good despite the knee. |

I think you are right about the tune, but noticed with the new one throttle throw is much shorter. On the AZ bike w aftermarket grips, throw to the stop is a whole turn. Have to move my hand to turn from stop. So bought an oem throttle tube from Al, will put on next time out, pull off airbox to see if complete throttle opening and then fix what is left of performance problems. Charles, my son came through from Iwakuni to pensacola for school. 10 yrs in the Corps. SCG on the way to him in a couple weeks. See you all next time through. Larry |

Looks comfortable, but I'm going to go with a Baldwin seat. That was an '04 ST there, Love that color. Frank, You and Lynn should come out for our ride in October. The 8th, 9th, and 10th... It's actually only one day, and two nights, since the first and last days are actually travel days. Here is a reminder about the Fall Ride: We have set the dates for our fall ride up HWY 191. October 8th, 9th, and 10th. Meet up on the east side around Idaho, and US60, then head up through Globe, Salt River Canyon, through the White Mountain Apache reservation, through Springerville/Eager, and on into Alpine. Dinner and social hour at the cabins, I think David will be barbecuing. We will be staying at the Coronado Trail Cabins, south of Alpine. http://www.alpinearizonacabins.com/reservations.cf m They are about $80 a night, and some have multiple beds so you can split the tab with someone. They all have a kitchenette, so we can keep our beer cold. We will need to stock up in Springerville, since there is no grocery stores in Alpine. You will need to get stuff for breakfast, unless you want to eat at the café in town, which has good chow. I’m not sure when they open though. 2nd day, head out to New Mexico, following the 2003 BRAG torqueFest route, down and loop back into AZ. Stop at Daryl Levesque's marker, and pay our respects. Lunch in Morenci, and then up HWY 191 through to Alpine. Dinner and social hour will be at the cabins. Debbie will be cooking up some chicken enchiladas for the gang. 3rd day: Head back to Phoenix down HWY260, through Show Low, Heber, Payson, the group can split here if they wish, and the East-siders can go down the beeline to fountain hills, to the east side. Us west side folks will be riding up through Strawberry, and taking HWY 260 across to Camp Verde, and then blasting down I-17 to town. 3 days of fun in the Mountains. About 650 miles total. Vacation day on Friday to ride up... Check your calendar, and start buttering up the 'ol lady for permission! (Message edited by bartimus on September 13, 2010) |

Looks like cabins 1, 2, and 3 are booked and cabin 4 is pending... I should have booked sooner and got an $80 room! Now I'm going to have to grab cabin 5 at $125 a night unless someone wants to split a room? Anyone looking to split there $80 room or go in on cabin 5? |

All, Here is another cabin option. Looks like Coronado is full, but the lady also has these across the road and they take single nights. Still don't know if we are coming but if so, will be a last minute deal. LJM But in any case, here you go: "I do have additional cabins available across the highway approximately 1/4 mile away from the Coronado Trail Cabins at Meadows Edge Cabins. A single night rate is $125.00 for up to two people. If you would be interested in this cabin or would like more information you are welcome to call me at 928-245-5558. Thank you, Jan" |

Yea, they are listed above. If you stay two nights, the rate drops to $95, that's closer to what everyone else is charging. I think the Alpine cabins are only $80. |

I just booked room 5, only two person capacity. I do have two or three guests coming with me though. If anyone would like to split a cabin let me know and I can arrange that. Or maybe we could trade rooms? Just let me know. Thanks, Kelly |

Got tickets down, no leave approved yet though so will see what happens. Probably 50/50 at this point. May just end up using the airfare later in the year but time will tell. Larry |

I hope it works out, would be nice to see you on the ride. Speaking of riding, anyone off Wednesday? Or feel kind of sick? I'm going to ride up to Prescott Wednesday morning the back way over yarnell, and through the Spars, do some lunch and head back. I gotta burn up what's left of the back tire on the CR. |

don't you need to get some new rubbers mounted also? Heck, you might be ready in time for the ride up to 191! On a side note, Debbie played hooky today, and we had a nice ride up the back road to Prescott. No cops, sweet curves, ah! what a nice day it was! Until we came back into town, and this DAMN heat!!! |

I'm flying in tomorrow afternoon and looking forward to some heat!!! We have had NOTHING but rain this last month. Absolutely the worst "summer" that I can remember. (We even have snow forecast for today!) Looking forward to getting on the Uly, even if it is in "this DAMN heat!" |

You are welcome to borrow one of mine if you like. As far as places to see? The courthouse, whiskey row, and prescott brewing company good food and great beers. Be prepared for the heat, it will be over 105 that day. |

Prescott should be around the low 90's. Prescott Brewing most definitely. Bart, I think I have my spacers taken care of here at home. Appreciate the offer to make them at work! |

Just an FYI... The 50 have been keeping a pretty close eye on the spars lately. Being pricks too. A friend of mine got stopped for a 48MPH average over 6 miles. The officer asked if he had passed anyone on the double yellow. He said no. the cop then proceeded to stop every car going by for about 20-30 minutes and asked if they'd been passed on a DY. One guy answered yes after about 20 other cars said no. They booked him for something along the lines of reckless endangerment as well as criminal speed. Essentially they booked him the same way they would if you were driving drunk and had a kid in the car. He spent a night in jail and is looking at 8 points plus about $8K in fines... Another of my friends that lives on the bottom side of the spars got stopped the other day too. |

Bart, Thanks for the bike offer. Like my text said, busy week working on an excavator with some overheating issues, so no time for riding Had dinner/drinks the last two nights at the Prescott Brewing Co- I am a fan! Only a handful of beers on tap right now, and was really hoping for an Oktoberfest, but what they had was awesome none the less. My co-worker planned our hotel reservations and we're all 1/4 of a mile from Whiskey Row, which worked out quite well. Had a beer in a few different bars tonight before heading back to PBC for dinner. Cool little town! |
