Actually there are some photos of Koz's bike somewhere here. He posted them a while back...right after he added the monsterous sized Sporty turn signals. I gave him some shit over those babies:D

Aaron,

yeah, I was thinking stock heads. I wanted to try to keep them as equal as possible. Have you had a chance to play with any 12s yet?

Jim, no, we've had one on the dyno but no projects yet. Should be fun though.

Daniel, I can't really do that in a public forum, it wouldn't be fair to the person we did the work for. Besides, we always like to have a long talk with the owner about his goals and budget and put together a plan specific to him.

The main thing as always is what RD has said here many times, work on what's holding the motor back. I hate quoting him so much, but the more I learn about this stuff, the more I realize the old coot's right. The motor's output is not defined by the sum total of a bunch of small contributions from go-fast pieces, it's defined by the level of the part that's holding it back. Until you work on that, you're just spinning your wheels and wasting money.

With respect to XB9's, Misato has it right IMO. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather sell head work and engine kits, but honestly, that stock pipe is the big constraint. The pipe he bought is actually a bargain, too, when you look at it on a hp per dollar basis and compare it to say the race kit or especially the race kit for tubers, which was similarly priced.

Aaron, would that high performance O2 sensor work on a race-kitted XB9R? If so, where might I get one/what's the P/N?

That sensor is something Dynojet sells to help their Power Commander do a better job. I doubt it'd do anything for a bike that doesn't have a PC3. But we'd be happy to sell you one anyway ;)

LOL...well, if the price is similar, why not? I'm not really interested in it for a power gain, though hopefully it is a 'better' part than stock. I just want to replace mine at the 15K service and I'd rather not spend whatever the dealer asks for one. Most likely I'll end up at Autozone. -=shrugs=-

The sensor from dynojet cost big $$$, The 12014 at Autozone ran me $18.

Ah! A Part Number, finally...but are all the Buell O2 sensors the same, or will that part not work in an XB for whatever reason?

The BOSCH 12014 is what I used to use for my X1. Not sure if it is the same for the XB's, as I've not had to replace one yet (7k mi. & all is well).

Thanks for the info, Aaron. I didn't think the X1's (also S3's) & XB's were the same. Anyone know the BOSCH equivalent that is suitable for XB's?

Thats it!!! A couple weeks ago we were talking about hideous seats & I mentioned that exact bike. I have seen it around town a couple times, but not in the last couple years. I dont recall that paintjob on it tho. New paint, same old ugly seat.

If the conversation about the derby cover wasn't over here, I probably would have posted it in the R-rated section.

Looks like bub pipe.

Probably made the pipe just before he made that gay seat. That is by far the ugliest thing I have ever seen done to a Buell.

I know things have gotten away from the orignal meaning of this thread but back to that. Screw all of the engineering, heads, bore, stroke, displacement. What really matters is who is riding the bike. I would bet the Nicky Hayden would kick any of our asses on any damn bike. 9, 12, Honda Rebel 250 whatever. Just go and ride. I would be right now if it wasn't dumping rain.

Sorry, just amazed at the amount of time spent researching this and talking. We all know people with faster bikes that we can beat.

Sorry to change the subject, but ...

Big Bore XB9 versus Stock XB12R hp

Big Bore XB9 versus Stock XB12R tq

The big bore XB9 has ported heads and a bored throttle body and an Nallin Racing/Force pipe & Power Commander. Stock cams.

Both bikes were dyno'ed the same day on the same dyno.
