Does anyone have a step by step set of instructions for the front engine mount replacement procedure, preferably with pictures? I ordered one from American Sport Bike and the service manual doesn't appear to have anything concrete. If such instructions don't exist maybe I'll get my camera and take a bunch of pictures while I do it, it could be something useful in the KV. Thanks in advance. |

I will assume you will change your front isolator at the same time. 1. Place car stands under the foot pegs and use a small hydraulic jack under the front of the motor to hold the front of the motor up in order to take off the front motor mount parts (and install the new ones). Place a block of wood between the jack and the bottom of the motor to prevent the jack from going through the cases. 2. Install the Isolator and motor mount to head bolts all finger tight or snug. 3. Remove the hydraulic jack and let the motor mount/isolator support the engine ... 4. First torque both sides to 26 ft lbs. 5. Then torque both sides to 52 ft. lbs. 6. Torque both sides to 78 ft. lbs. 7. Then torque the isolator/motor mount bolt to 100-110 ft lbs. 8. Then torque the two isolator/frame nuts/bolts to 30 ft lbs. (Remember to put anti-size on all threads so you will get the proper torque values.) Hope this helps... Frank |

Blake, it would be nice if we had a link to LaFayette's knowledge (and others) at the top of the page... Similar to the 1125 and Thumper section. I realize it is just a link to a thread but I think we could organize a lot of info. I have always been impressed with the Thumper section. I think we have EZ to thank for that. I am willing to help and I bet others are as well. I have many (not all) of Lafayette's files posted on the S2 site (just a holding area for this info but I hate the yahoo group setup). I think, as an advocate of this site, it would be much better served here. Just an idea. Frank |

Buellistic, I am sorry, I did not realize you had already put some brain power on this... I am sure you and the Custodians have a much better idea of the way things should be setup than I do... I think it would be cool if the help info was just one click away. Frank |

Frank: All "i" ever did was ask if someone would do this like the THUMPER FORUM ... "i" do not have a personal web site ... If someone needs some help, "i" just load them up with all the "INFO" that "i" have ... Hopefully they make copies and save ??? |
