Hi, I did the pcv line re-route only to discover I have gas leaking out of the airbox. There's enough to drip and splatter the area below the airbox, which concerns me being gas. Seems like it does it mainly when I accelerate quickly and run through the gears. Any ideas? Jason |

There is alot of intake tract reversion that causes gas vapor to travel out of the carb when the bike is running normally. This is caused by cam overlap and the long stroke of the engine. Is there gas running out of the carb when it is sitting and the engine not running? If that is the case you may have fuel level issues with your carburetor. |

Gas doesn't leak while the bike is off. Only when I ride. |

What jets do you have in it? Truthfully, That is just the way they are, I remember a few times the Big Kid or the Little Kid coming in the house after riding and smelling gas on their right pant leg. And that side of the bike having a dark gas tarnish on it, kind of like the tarnish that you see on the inside of a carburetor. Its not wet but a dry discoloring. I wouldn't worry about it unless there are actual clear gas drips coming out of it. |

It has the stock jets. 42/170 I suppose. I can watch the gas splatter out onto the cover that's below the airbox. (while riding) Looks like if you sprayed it with a spray bottle or something, but the droplets are bigger. |

and if that happens I would definitely check the settings on your float per the manual. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

If you pull the air cleaner off and rev the engine, you will see the gas spit out. However, your post seems to indicate a condition thats more than normal. If you can see it splatter with the stock airbox completely installed, then thats not right. Your profile indicates a lot more problems than a Blast normally has: Did you buy it used? Has it been modified? Has anybody taken the carb apart (that you know of)? Is the idle air mixture screw still covered or has it been drilled out? Is this a new problem? How many miles on your bike? EZ's right. If the float is out of adjustment or there is dirt obstructing the float needle (or its stuck), that will cause excess gas spewing out. PS If you decide to remove the float bowl, use a good screwdriver (so the screws dont strip) and be careful when dropping it (straight down) as not to change the float setting. |

I concur with what both EZ and Gearheaderiko said, from your last post it seems there is more than normal. |

Yes I can see the gas spit out when I have the airbox cover off. I tried it. When I snap the throttle, gas spits right out. When the cover is on, I can see the gas spatter on the belt cover below..... only under hard acceleration. I bought the bike with 537 miles on it, a rider's edge bike. All of these problems have popped up since. It now has about 5900 miles. I ride everyday rain or shine. No mods other than what I've done. I have a jet kit, but wanted to solve the carb problem first. I still have a year of warranty left. Lucky for me. The dealer didn't do a good job on the gaskets, so I have to take it back. The gas problem wasnt discovered until I did the pcv re-route, but I know it was there from the start, I just assumed it was all oil. The dealer kept telling me it was normal, but I knew better. I really haven't had many problems, just bad service is the main problem. |

I'm having the same problem, except I haven't done the viewing troubleshooting. just noticing spots on my pants, hoses, and in air box. Anything come of your fix? Is this discussed elsewhere? |

see main carb section for adjusting float. In other words - back up one section and scroll down. EZ |

Before you go to any trouble, are you turning your gas off? If you are, then proceed as directed. If you arent turning your gas off, the float/needle may be stuck and the overflow gas will either go into the engine or the airbox. FWIW: I havent turned off the petcock for years. Most of the time the carbs are pretty reliable and you dont have to worry about it (IE: dont panic if you havent turned it off). But when a carb goes bad, bad things can happen |
