Please help on my 2001 X1 I have an issue that pokes up randomly. Every now and then my bike hit a section of throttle that is just choked, I can pull in the clutch and it will rev just fine but under load it just has no power. I have no idea whats causing it, I do also have intermittant issues with the IAT sensor and ETS sensor caused by the previous owner cutting the harness for cheesy mods, but I dont think they are the cause. If this has happened to anyone else please let me know. Thanks |

"...I do also have intermittant issues with the IAT sensor and ETS sensor..." What are the symptoms? |

Just the Check engine light that I notice. Now that I think of it, is it possible the ETS sensor is causing the issue? I'd heard that some of the HD engine will limp on one cylinder if they register overheating. Could that be whats happening? I've only had the bike a few months and i'm still trying to fix all the "mods" the previous owner made. |

The engine does have a fail-safe mechanism which I beleive does skip-spark when the head temperature exceeds a certain value. With that been said, I suggest you try to narrow down the "..Every now and then.." scenario to see if it is temperature related. All in all, if you are getting a ETS code then you should replace the sensor after you have ruled out any wiring type issues. |
