Yea! Finally got all my charging harness and Cali can parts in up at High Desert! Now I have to "swing by there" on my way to Sturgis next weekend...sheesh.

Went up Wolf Creek Sun.hit a little rain/hail on the way back, just enough to knock the bugs off the front of my bike. Also scuffed the new rear Conti,by the way,I got just under 8K miles out of the last one,not bad.

Saxon - what Conti's are you running? Raceattack, Sportattack, ?? I'm going to need some new skins by end of summer, so starting to look at maybe Conti's or Michelin this time...

I run Bridgestone BT003s on my track bike. I hear the BT016s are the street version of them. That's what I'm going put on Scarrrlet when it's time.

Kerri, well, its almost time for you to hit the road again for Sturgis. Hope this catches you before you head out. Have much fun and hopefully you'll be able to hookup with some of your many friends there and along the way. Hope you can get some nice pictures, maybe some ride videos, even maybe some of those "guy" photos we like and you don't like to do much. LOL. Anyways, DO have a blast, stay safe and we'll be looking forward to a nice report either here or on USBA when you return. Drive/Ride safe my friend and Godspeed. Bob

Jeff, T* is getting a shipment of Dunlop Q2s in...they've been getting really good reviews as well. $220 a set.

Thanks Bob...I'll be leaving Fri to go to ID to get my wiring harness swapped out and get the latest flash. Then off to SD either later that day or the next. I got one of those GoPros so I'll be sure to get some video and I'll have my camera too.

stirz007,I'm running the Road Attacks. They seem to have good grip and did very well in the rain,I haven't had them on the track,so,I can't say how they would do there.I bought the new rear from JakeWilson, paid about 150.00 with tax, they are a Utah co.so you have to pay tax if you live in UT.but they don't charge for shipping.I ordered mine on July 5th(sunday),I assume they were closed monday for the holiday, received the tire on wed. I have run Michelins on a bike I had and they were great tires.

Road Attacks did well at the track on my M2. Check the spec'd pressure on the sidewall (it's something like 38 and 42, front and rear), they run a higher pressure than most tires, and do handle better at the recommended numbers.

Knees down on both sides and never had a traction issue, only limiting factors were my skill level and the suspension (front needed a rebuild to match the rear).

So, I'm home. But the bike's in Colorado @ High Country. Stupid harness upgrade...my stator fried two days after that install. But they found a new stator in TX and are having it overnighted to them. I should be able to go back and get it next weekend. Totally blows though...that's a long trip. Hopefully, this will be the last of it. According to the '09 Stator Issues thread, it should be. We'll see.

I believe you're right Kerri. This repair should do it. Fall riding will be beautiful.

Some better news in the Ogden Examiner this morning. See article below but basically F1M Superbike returns to Millers in 2011 and again with Lucas Oil Series but AMA Superbike also. Outstanding! Lets all think about trying to be there again to cheer on and support Buell and/or some of the best bike racing on the planet whatever you ride. And with more and better rumors flying about Erik Buell Racing producing the needed 50 bike minimum 1190RR's to qualify for AMA Superbike it should be a great weekend. Geoff is qualified 6th for todays races at VIR on the "little" 1125R. If nothing else the 1190 will kick some serious @ss in the Lucas series next year. Recorder is set for tonight @ 8:00 PM on the Speed channel! Stay safe all. Bob

We're home!!! I was so happy to see my bike...530mi later and we're home. LONG trip, but she did great. Voltage never dropped below 13.5, temps were good, gas mileage was good as well (speeds considering)...about 40-44mpg.

I love my bike!

I can only post occasionally so I'll just catch all you great friends when I return. Have a great track day both you and Jeff. Stay well and stay safe............lets ride soon! Bob

Jeff, haven't done Bonneville, since we've been doing our vacation in August and Sept. About 6 years now. I do enjoy Fireman Jim's posts from there though, in the Buell racing forum. Great reading. He's awesome! How did yours and Kerri's track day go? Hope you had a great time. See you soon. Bob

Kerri -

Are you doing MMP October 8? (either perimeter, or full, not exactly sure - $200), or Apex on the 23rd (east course, also $200)

Gotta do my financial planning. I'm leaning to the 8th...

Jeff, I'm doing the ART on 26 Sept, then the Apex on 23 Oct. East is more of technical course than a fast course and right now I need to focus more on technique than speed. With a USBA membership, you get an APEX discount as well...

If anyone remembers that buddy of mine, Bob, who had that ZX-14, he rode off a 60ft cliff as we were riding on East Canyon last weekend. He thinks he broke some ribs, but he's generally ok. The bike is a different story.

Just another reason to "RIDE YOUR OWN RIDE". Don't try to keep up with folks when you don't know what their experience is or how good they are.

Kerri, glad you like the Q2's. a lot of good press on them and riders seem to agree. Rear only or front too and what size front?

Sorry to hear about Bob. He seemed to be an excellent rider and I enjoyed riding with him. Hope he recovers and the ribs heal OK. That can be real uncomfortable for a while.

I also agree totally with your "ride your own ride"; you definitely have to be aware of your own abilities and not over stretch to "keep up" or out do the other rider. Lets all enjoy the ride today and "ride for tomorrow's ride" Sometimes its hard to do but pays off in the longrun.

Kerri, didn't you post somewhere about a lady writing/editing for Cycle News or something to that effect? I had a lady/HD groupie that wrote an article on my Bonneville ride back in '85 and was wondering if its the same gal.

Kerri, see my original post for a question, and thanks if you reply. Her name was Dorde Woodruff.

Thanks Kerri; anyway for Jeff or anyone interested, a little Bonneville nostalgia.

Here (below)is an article by that Dorde Woodruff in Cycle News from 1985. My last year to run at Bonneville. Been back many times to watch and film but not participate in the speed trials.

When they fixed the timing clocks I finally managed a 151.231 and had the H.P. to go faster but ran out of gear. With the shaft drive I stopped at 8700 rpm's to save the motor. No higher gear ratio available from BMW. Fun yes, not even close to a record in 1000 cc supercharged partially streamlined class. The Japanese boys were at 185 or so. The comradarie and great competition was like no where else.

My pit crew was my wife, son and daughter for a truly family endeavor. Nice to look back at some great times on a bike and glad I can still have some fun with some great people we ride with. Thanks all for the good times "in the wind", Bob

Speed is fun! Hit 168 on my CBR on my last trackday.

It'd be fun to see what top end is on all the bikes.

Speed IS fun Kerri and any track is the only real proper place to do it to the max. Acceleration to a "safe" speed on the street is also fun if kept in proper perspective. Looking back I was very pleased to do 150 then and little did I know I would someday be riding a stock street bike capable of blowing that away. I gotta come out and catch you and maybe Jeff on your next track day but probably going to do a run with Mike on Sunday. I haven't ridden for quite a few weeks since I've been gone and looking forward to a nice ride. Technical riding is always good......"get'er done" gal.
