Fatty, your the MAN! Thanks for the link you must be reading my mind. Thats a scary thought. Though for which one of us I'm not sure! Your right about the dealer stepping up. not only the dealer but the MOCO as well. I have heard of cases simmilar to mine were Buell MOCO stepped up and did stuff like this but I never expected it from H D. My hat's off to them for this (Message edited by blk_uly on September 01, 2010) |

I agree Jeremy, nothin' beats a two into one. I had a 2 into 1 muzzy on my kaw meanstreak. It was upswept just like those. I looked mean and it screamed. One screw and the baffle came right out for repacking or a bike night reving contest, if your into that. the supertrapp looks like the pipe organ in my old church |

Jeff, At least the owner of 1 Uly with problems in South Florida is being treated right ! My 2007 has been through a similar ordeal, with no resolution of the problem. One dealer when it died (on the road),washed their hands of it after 10 hours labor, saying that it could not be fixed. If there was one HD I'd get, it would be the 1200X, but after what HD did to Buell in October, I don't even think I could do it. Congratulations and good luck ! |

I have sold my Sportster, I used to keep it around for when my friend Clint showed up he would ride it. The last long trip it was on Clint was riding it last September. Clint died in June and it has been sitting except to take it to Clints family reunion and out to his grave. Clints brother bought it, so at least it is still in the family. I miss Clint riding my Sportster. |

The XR is a good bike. Unfortunately it isn't quite sporty enough for the sport bike crowd and not quite cruiser enough for the Harley crowd. Bumpus doesn't plan to order one unless someone comes in and puts a deposit on one. We had a really hard time selling the three we had. It's not the bike's fault. It's just a bike for a narrow market segment. Really glad you like it, and I'm sure you will be happy with it long term. Good on your dealer for stepping up. Make sure to reward them with trips for service, parts, and merchandise. They've earned it. |

Nice bike! How does the seat compare to the Uly? I agree, the orange accents are just right. Thanks for posting pics! |

OMG! I have just read your full thread and My 2008 Uly is manifesting the same symptomes as yours was I have just changes the air filter, changed the spark plugs, and cleaned and oiled the starter motor. But it still looses power, and shows signs of wanting to skip. I was planning to try to change a bunch of stuff this winter to try to fix this but it seems you did it all before and it didn't fix anything: Idle air controller, throttle position sensor, fuel injectors, O2 sensor, crank position sensor, wiring harness, and fuel pump. now I'm really scared, I bought the bike used in March so i'm not going to be getting anykind of deal from a dealer. Anyone ever find a solution to these problems? why does the bike do this? |

Thanks for all your comments. A ride report on the new bike will be comeing soon to a thread near you. If their was a cure to my bikes problems, I'de be willing to bet it will come from Erik Buell Racing. contact the they might help. Here's a shameless plug for some uly stuff in the classified section. check it out. |

These are the kind of threads that make me very nervous about keeping my Ulysses. I also have an '08 Uly XT (black!!) I'm out of warranty and don't have an extended warranty to fall back on. Would certainly not get the 'trade back in for full MSRP' deal if this happened to me. Don't get me wrong, I love my Ulysses. It is about the perfect bike for my wife and I to 2-up tour on. Just not sure I am willing to keep rolling the dice as time goes by. Also, I think it would be great if Erik Buell Racing stepped up and addressed some of these issues with the Ulysses but I don't think they have the resources.
