If it is the CEL you want to turn off when you remove the motor, try here: http://www.ukbeg.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=13 75 |

Must be Black Belt QA to critique a line arrow to a big red box. Nonsensical adherence to artificial QA requirements is part of my theory for the collapse of NA industrial economy. But I am really digressing... Seeing as this post came up, what are we talking about? I'm reading shutting the valve off electronically and changing the ECM after dropping the motor. Just looking for a brief description and why. |

Just curious, what is the correct way to do it then?

The OP's question was if the muffler valve actuator can be disabled on a stock ECM with ECMspy. Short answer is yes, and I provided a self explanatory pic of it. |

ha, NASA is one of the few places where the standards actually apply. Froggy: didn't mean to sound rude, whatever. I was asking about the why of it. just something simple, not the big stuff. |

Ah, I misinterpreted what you were asking. Most aftermarket exhausts for the XB12's do not have the muffler valve. The actuator can stay on the airbox plugged in, but many like to remove it so they can switch to an open airbox setup. If you simply unplug the actuator, the ECM will notice and throw a check engine light (code 21). To get around this, you can either disable it with ECMspy or buy the servo emulator from American Sport Bike. |

That is 1.12.26, one of the last (if not the last) version. It says it up at the top. |

Thanks Froggy. Incidentally, my xb9r went through a police radar today and that's about all I want to say about that. Not a happy memory but it could have been worse. |

Froggy, or anyone else,... On the screen shot above, pertaining to the active muffler control on or off setting, when I attach to my friends xb12 and I want to shut off his active control.. DO I check "off", and then depress the "burn" button below it? Is that correct? Any other steps to follow? |
