Hey guys,

I was told by the Harley dealer to check my mixture screw on my carb every so often because "they move".

Anyone know where I can get a diagram online of it to find out where this is? My service manual is packed away in storage (I know, good place for it). Can anyone also tell me what it should be set at? Im also running a Hypercahrger.

Thanks,

Eric

Is this the idle mixture screw? If so, if it has not been touched there would be a protective cap over it so it could not move and even if it is removed the seal/spring should keep it as it should be. If what ever just try it 2 1/2 turns out. Or else turn it out till it stumbles and in till it stumbles and set it in the middle. Let us know how it works out.

Thanks Buell_bert, it is the mixture screw I am talking about. I havent tried real hard to locate this thing yet but now Ill look no that I know what to set it at. I dont know if there is a cap there or not. A year or two ago when I was having idleing issues the dealer took a look at it and told me the mixture screw had moved all the way out causing my issue. Ill have to get a cap if its not there. Thanks for the responce!

It's underneath and on the inside near the jugs of the carb. There should be a spring and O-ring on the idle screw and normally should not move but you could put a dab of blue Permatex type stuff on the threads to firm it up some more. I have no caps on mine because if I take the carb off to clean it I like to spray out all the ports and orifices. Good luck though. OH and if you get it adjusted, just where you want it for a long time, fill the hole that the screw goes into with the thread sealant stuff and it can not back out.
