I know this has probably come up in previous posts but I seem to have developed a hesitation issue at or above 50 MPH after upgrading my exhaust and re-jetting. To fix my chronic stock exhaust which kept cracking I installed a V&H SS2-R Exhaust and Re-Jetted the carb with the V&H Re-Jet Kit. I also added a K&N airfilter to replace the stock airfilter. The instructions required me to replace the stock needle and add 3 "E" shaped washers as well as use a "165" sized mainjet. After install the Blast sounded great and ran smooth up to around 50 MPH... it starts to hesitate as I apply more throttle, and it continues to hesitate/studder all the way up to wide open throttle. I went back and even installed a size "175" mainjet and it still hesitates above 50 MPH. Any ideas what could be causing the hesitation? She will still accelerate to over 90 MPH but the hesitation is very uncomfortable and unsmooth... feels like she is not receiving a steady stream of fuel? Appreciate any advice! |

Is your needle an adjustable one? Can you move the E clip or do you have to put more washers on it or remove them to adjust it? Either way it sounds like your needle doesn't allow the fuel to come on soon a nuff. To fix this i would not adjust the main jet i would make the needle shorter by shimming it or moving the E clip. Start with the needle pointing at you and count 2 or 3 slots moving away and start there. If you need to shim start with 2 washers going over the needle point not on top when it is installed. |

I can move the E clips... Should I move the whole set of 3 E Clips back one notch or remove a clip or two? Thanks for your response! |
