It started out good. Got up at 4am left Pittsburg at 5 to meet my Daughter in Stockton for breakfast (she just started college) Had a nice breakfast then shifty met me to show me the way to Jackson to meet up with Sslomoand his crew. Met up with 8 or so bikes gassed up and started heading out on our adventure. As we hit the first corner I realize I should be in the back of this group but no problem I can hang. Come around a corner feeling good straighten up and as I look I see a big @$$ rock square center of my wheel. To late to avoid it I hit it dead center instant flat. My first flat on a front tire. Very wobbley and hard to steer but I didn't panic and got to the side of the road. As I get there I notice the rest of the bikes that were in front of me pulled over. Somebody walks back and asked what happened "#@$% Rock!!" so he helps me push my bike up with the rest only to discover Sslomo hit the same @#$% rock. He has 2 dented rims. I have one and a flat. Rims not to bad it should hold air. We plug the falt. Still leaking another hole! We plug that one, still leaking! 3 flats and not only is the rim bent it's craked and the spoke is bent. That's when I realize the Drummer is tore up from the floor up. So Mrs. Sslomo gets on her bike and goes to San Andreas to get the pickup. Meanwhile everybody continues on the ride (that was looking to be an awesome one) hopefully they had a great time and no issues. One of the guys stayed to help. Mrs. Sslomo got back with the pickup and we headed to San Andreas. Darryl (I've never met any of these people) had a spare a tire changer and welding equipment in his garage. Unlucky for the rock but what are the chances of one of the guys you're riding with to have all that, know how to use it, and offer to help? So the rime is F-ed up and looks to be ruined. Darryl spent some time welding it up and getting a tire on. After some time all was good. I drove back to Pittsburg, got a ticket on the way home #@!@!! (don't tell my wife, she'll kill me)got home and that's the tale of the fracking rock. so the out come? I need a new rim, need to put the stock exhaust back on, wich intales figuring out how the fracking actuator cable goes, but met some great people and had a few laughs in the 111 degree heat. And proved once again that there are some awesome people in the motorcycle world that go way above and beyond for a guy they don't know! thanks again for the help and I hope you can take us up on the offer of a homemade Peruvian dinner! |
