I'm thinking of painting my Uly as I need to reassemble it after the crash. I'm looking for ideas. Post your picture if you've painted your Uly. I'm leaning towards going with a khaki / tan combo.. but black is faster, ya know. |

First off, black is not fastest and why would you want to go cammo and be harder to see in traffic? Oh well, that is just me. The powder coat that is on the frame, wheels, and other parts is an excellent adhesion base(primer). Urethanes go over it well. Any colors are possible. The plastics can be done with the right materials. |

Don't know if you plan on painting the Uly yourself or not but here is a good article on painting bikes. If this link doesn't work it is on the Bay Area Riders Forum in the garage forum at the top of the page. http://bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.ph p?t=264901 |

Here's mine. You can't really tell from the picture, but it's a pearl white. I have the red tank decals on there now but i haven't had a chance to take pics of it yet. Gonna try and paint the chin piece this weekend (black). (Message edited by gusmiami on August 26, 2010) |

Gusmiami, how did you get the back of the seat white? That's giving me some ideas... (Message edited by Metaldude on August 27, 2010) |

I had the seat reupholstered. I saw plenty of people change the color of the bike but never saw anyone change the seat color. My advice though, choose the color you want for the bike then buy the material in that color first. Then have the paint color-matched to that material's color. It's easy to color match the paint, not so easy to find material to match the paint (especially if you're impatient like me and wanted to do it all at the same time). I got lucky and got it right, but I can see where it might have gone the other way.

Khaki would look sick! I'm thinking solid khaki flyscreen and airbox, all black seat and khaki on the front of the lower fairing (where the gray is). But maybe that's just my Iraq Marine talking... |

Maybe the more beige-olive color in a matte (flat) paint. That might look cool. |

Really rough kahki (not exactly what you asked for, just a quick variation)
And at the risk of appearing to be a knock-off froggy mobile, I've been considering a variation of red digi camo...

I would of done that much digi camo on mine, but I fail at vinyl wrapping so I settled with the small flatter things. |

Thanks. I'm pretty psyched with how it turned out as well. |
