I was thinking about taking the bike down in the truck because of the whole stator issue that seems to be omnipresent. I had read so many stories of guys getting the bike back from the first stator failure and having the second one fail soon after.
...maybe I could ride it down. Ok, sure, I'll ride down with you guys.
Oh yeah, I went up to Cripple Creek last night with an attorney friend of mine. She was riding her Ducati and I was on the CR, both red! We kind of stuck out from most of the bikes there, although I did see a few sport bikes.
Julie, where did you go camping at???? We like dry camping...
Jody, post pictures of your attorney friend and her bike, (what Duc does she have?). Also, did you talk her into going down to Red River with us... I think she would have a great time hanging with Buellers...
We will leave here around 8 and head down to Penrose.
She rides an 1198, a Harley(spit), and a Ninja. We are just friends(underscore). We talked about her joining in the fun but she has other plans for that weekend. I'm sure Lynn would enjoy riding with her and picking up riding tips. She can hang with any of the guys, that's for sure.
Good Jody, I am glad you are going to ride with us....and no worries IF anything happens with your bike, I will just give you my XB to ride and I can ride bitch with Frank....I would love to ride with your girlfriend sometime....any pointers are great. I was thinking about on saturday when everyone takes off to ride, I might just go out by myself ...or with you and Frank and work on some more skills. Just going around the enchanted circle would be good, its under a 100miles so good chance to practice. I have to admit,I think everytime I get on my XB I am improving. yeah!!
First, if anything happens to your bike, Jody, I can have my wife bring up the truck. Either way, we'll get you home.
Next, I don't see any reason for Lynn to ride alone or separate from the group. There are going to be riders of all skill levels and not everyone will be tearing ass around the place. I'm bringing my son who has less than a year of riding.
Meanwhile, what time are you guys thinking you'll get into Red River? I figure we'll leave here around 4pm and be up there around 6pm.
Wow, Jeff... That's a tough one. I hope you're able to get it squared away in time to travel.
So, for those of you interested in meeting for dinner on Friday night, some of us are going to check out Texas Red's steak house. It's a few blocks east of our hotel, walking distance. No idea on pricing, but the menu looks pretty good to me. I figure I'll be arriving in Red River around 6pm. Dave Kaminen thinks they'll also arrive around that time. So, I figure 7pm or so for dinner. Everyone is welcome to tag along.
Murrae has the demo fleet at his shop this weekend, so they're talking about riding up Saturday to meet us. Unsure if that means lunchtime at Embudo, or what. Certainly by dinner Saturday. He's providing quite a bit of swag for Saturday so I'll have to figure out a way to raffle off those door prizes. I think I have some raffle tickets at work I can use.
THe Southwest Regional Buell Rally is coming to a close. Jody's stator went out again and the bike is at Santa Fe HD. Murrae showed up tonight and he said they will get Jody back on the road tomorrow. Any ideas Zac? Less than 1000 miles since the last one...
Pictures will follow and it was good to see everyone and meet the new people. Nothing like 20 Buells tearing up the Enchanted Circle.
Awards: People Choice Don and his XB Most miles to the Rally was Jim (Buellhusker) from NE Most miles on Buell was Russ Youngest Rider to Anthony (17) Hard core rider was Daniel Oldest Buell to me
Ok, I gotta give a HUGE shout out to Zack and Lawana...they were great hosts!!! I had a great visit with them...felt like family by the time I left! Got a good night's rest and Zack took me to pick up Scarrrlet this morning. 530 miles and almost 7 hours later, I'm home in UT. Voltage never dropped below 13.5 so I'm happy so far. My hands and arms are a bit stiff and sore, but it was a good bonding experience.
THANK YOU AGAIN ZACK AND LAWANA!!! You are welcome in my home anytime!!!
Jody, that's a drag. I was really hoping that all would go well. I now have over 4300 miles on big red and no problems. I did read in the 1125 board that when the high beams are on, the voltage starts to go down. I tried it and I watched as it did go down. The highs got turned off real fast.
Dan and I rode up to Estes Park yesterday and did a short ride to Palmer Lake today with Skye. He came down to have Dan fix a leaking fork. I then rode Skye's bike home from Palmer Lake (he rode Little Blue XB) and was scared to death. The bike wouldn't turn. I was sweating bricks. We made it back to Castle Rock and found a very flat front tire. Well, now I know what it feels like to have a flat. The Good Lord was watching over us today, it could have been very bad, especially going 70mph on a flat.
Glad you all had fun this weekend. If your weather was anything like ours, it was beautiful.
The Rally was a success with somewhere around 25 bikes to include one from NE (Jim) and one from KS (Loren and Meribeth). It sure was good to see those guys again plus Jeff and Julie, CJ, Dave and Bob, Murrae and Mable, Kim and Cheryl..... etc etc.... Also met a bunch of new Buellers to include a couple from Colorado Springs...
Jody is MIA... He got a ride to Santa Fe and Murrae was confident they could get the bike back on the road if it was in fact the stator... Seems to me that it must be something else since it lasted only 800 miles. It pisses me off but Jody took it in stride. I have no idea what his status is right now.
My ignition switch went South but nothing that kept me from riding it. Another one was ordered tonight...
I sure wish some other Buellers from the area could had made it. I know some of you know what they are like but for those of you that never made one of these events you are really missing out.
I now know the definition of "counter-steering". It was all I could do to turn the bike. I've never pushed so hard on the handlebars to turn a bike. After I got back on Little Blue, the first corner we did, it turned so fast I thought I was going to fall down.
Poor Dan, all I did while riding was telling him how freaky the bike was riding. His poor ear. I've never been that shaken up while riding.
The pic's look great. I told Dan that we may have to plan to do the trip next year. Sorry we missed it.
Went to the races at HPR on Saturday. Here is a few pics and short video of the start of the endurance race. John F. got 4th in the open endurance race. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoTkV07rSo4 On Sunday John F. got 1st in the regular race and has extended his lead for 1st place overall with only two race to go for the season. Congrats John!
Julie, Glad you did not fall with the front flat tire at 70 mph. When ever something does not feel right with a bike, always stop and check things out even on a strange bike. Someone was watching over you! John
Hello everybody ...Frank wanted me to send out a email asking if anybody has a S3 oil bag that they could get to our house. Loren broke down in Simla Colorado and Frank is going to get them and the bike and bring back to our house. If anybody can help with the oil tank call Frank at 719-200-4957...thanks Lynn
